1200 DVT Bought A New Dvt, But Still Going To Have A Moan !

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Steve m, Nov 20, 2015.

  1. Well, I finally took the plunge!, after selling my 2014 multi privately ( chap collecting tomorrow ), I had another test ride on a Dvt today, but with the seat in the high position, as I had leg ache after a test ride the last time out, I'm a lanky gitt!..this time round I loved it !! ..the bark from that intake!! ...needless to say I rode without ear plugs
Originally I had the bike booked in today at riders in Cardiff for its annual service before its collected tomorrow, I left a message with the service department & a salesman,( as the salesman I was dealing with was off yesterday ) asking to test ride the Dvt at riders in Cardiff while my bike was in for service, yes they said no problem! , I thought I'd better check he had got the message this morning, I rang and spoke to the salesman, he said ' I did have a message on my desk first thing yes, but I sold the Dvt demo last week, so we don't have one here' I said oh it's a good job I rang you then, yes he said it is isn't it ! He wasn't bothered at all! I said 'will you be having another demo in ?, he said ' I'm not sure, I would need to speak to our general manager, but I can't at the moment'
His attitude was just crap! I said,I tell you what cancel the service, I'll go elsewhere!
With that I rang the Bristol branch, they couldn't fit me in for a service for two weeks!
But in fairness he did say he would ask riders service dept in Bridgewater to ring me, and fair play I had a call within 20 minutes, yes they said ( Lee in service ) we can fit you in at 2pm no worries, he even sorted the Dvt test ride too & knocked £30 off the cost of the service as I had a 90 mile round trip, needless to say I bought my Dvt from Bridgewater ( £11995 with panniers,,base model)
So in short, Cardiff lost a service & the sale of a brand new bike for one salesmans crap attitude.
Looking forward to taking delivery of my spanking new Dvt next Friday

  2. Good lad, congrats on the new bike & well done for voting with your feet. I have experienced horrendous service from Ducati Manchester & they ( along with the rest of the DMC) group will never see another penny of mine.

If necessary I will travel further or switch brands. Simples.

    Enjoy the bike.

  3. Good on yah' name & shame. It's the only way to make dealerships sharpen up there act.

  4. WHAT HAPPENED !

  5. Good for you, Dealers need a wake up like this!

  6. Why not have a moan anyway. You have just sold the second best bike in the world and you have the best bike in the world on order. Honestly, it's posts like yours that make me wish I had never got into Ducati all those years ago. I'm worried I might bump in to you somewhere during a magnificent tour in Europe or on a track day and you'll just have to have a moan anyway :-(

  7. What a strange reply, try getting out of bed the other side tomorrow maybe ??
Obviously 'SADLY' you are looking for a reaction from me...yr not going to get it.
    Have a good day xx

  8. Not going to get a reaction? QED.

  9. The customer chooses where to spend his money and it's often forgotten by people on the front line ( I chose to avoid using the term Salesman, as in this case they were not present ).

  10. I know St Neots Ducati have a good reputation but when I first went in to buy my DVT they made me feel like it was my privilege to buy one, not theirs to sell one! I bought elsewhere!!
I tried again and said they would be my preferred choice for services but I had some warranty work to which I was told they were not interested in doing the warranty stuff as they don't earn so much!
Won't earn anything off me now!!

  11. They wouldn't get a penny off me either with that attitude!

  12. Nice to see people voting with their feet, some dealers are shite. Pal of mine was going to get his new DVT at M&S in Newcastle, but their attitude & p/x stunk, so he went to Carlisle and got a first class service & better p/x.

  13. Bike dealers have had it easy for far to long, with bikes getting more and more expensive now, people will shop around and expect good service before they part with there hard earned cash

Bike dealers need to step up to the mark now, those that already have will be the ones that see the benefit

  14. They are giving the Ducati franchise up at the end of the year. They are very good at service and have reliable technical ability. They will be a loss for Ducati imop. Shame some have had a poor sales experience.

  15. Just had some really good customer service from Riders Ducati in Bridgewater. Have left a review as can't type it all again! Rob in the service dept was spot on as was the guy with the van!

  16. I think an undercover boss type programme would open the eyes of what goes on in dealer ships
Then the best dealership helps to bring up the standards of the faltering ones
For every negative customer service that person tells 10 other people
I would have expected all Ducati dealerships to provide the best standards for the industry to follow
The best can fall like the rest when you take your eye off the ball and become complacent
There are others that will willingly pick up your business

  17. Undercover boss programme, I'm sure that will nail it, Tim disguised with a 'tash folding scrambler t-shirts for an afternoon in Manchester while the general manager and his merry men tell him how well he is doing..

  18. Being new here and with a limited knowledge of multistrada's , is there much difference between the 2014 and the new dvt version and is it worth going for the newer model.
As for poor attitude on the sales side, I find it more and more apparent, twice recently I went to see about a test ride and on both occasions they were quite reluctant as it was raining, this is not purely the Ducati shop's , it might have been because I turned up in a Peugeot wearing jeans, would their attitude change if I arrive in my Ferrari wearing a nice suit.
I don't expect people to kiss my behind, but I do expect common curtesy and politeness from the staff who without us wouldn't be employed.

  19. It's fairly common practice though to not allow test rides when it's raining.
