1200 DVT Anyone Else Disappointed By The New 2016 Pp?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Spencer Gardner, Nov 25, 2015.

  1. Been holding out for the new PP and finally they show you a bike which basically has Ohlins suspension, and a paint job. I do love my current PP, looks great, reliable 90% of the time. Terrible gearbox, but over all she is lovely and I enjoy riding her everyday.

SO, new PP, they remove the skyhook suspension with mechanical Ohlins. Love Ohlins but cant help feeling its taking a step backwards with regard to technology? No sexy wheels? Lovely big price tag!

Recently ried the s1000XR, looks terrible in my humble opinion, terrible vibes at 5000 revs, BUT, what a superb bike, far more power, sweet gear box, and according to my local dealer, (who has ducati and bmw) far less issues. Also no dip in power around 5000 which the DVT I tried did have.

Whats peoples view of the PP? I want to change, but just not sure which direction to head in.

  2. Im also very disappointed with the announcement of the new PP, and im ready to change too

    However.......

I don't get Ducatis thinking at all, I love my Ohlins equipped bike, but back to standard suspension, an old 2013 paint job and a crappy termi end can with a £3K hike in price! Is completely bonkers! Ducati really need to re-think this one in my mind!

  3. I'm disappointed in the touratech engine bars on the new MTS-enduro. They look well made but are so close to the body of the bike that they will not stop damage occuring to the body work!

  4. On a slightly broader note, I can`t see ANY of the new 2016 bikes that stand out as real improvements over this years crop. Not even the x Diavel.

  5. I'm afraid that the new pikes peak is squarely aimed at the 'more money than sense' crowd.

If you have the money and don't give a monkeys then fair play, but as a bike pushing £20k I'm sorry it's just not that special.

I'd rather take the XR tbh and enjoy the performance

  6. Totally agree with this. Going to keep my 2013 PP with all the bits. Dealer said they wanted to aim for the sport/race audience but they would buy a Pani. If so why put rubbish scorpion tyres on them.......

Whole point of multi is in the name to cope with a varietry of roads not just go round a track/smooth autobahn.

  7. Really disappointed with the new PP, but taken by the Enduro !
Something just doesn't look right with it IMO.
Looking forward to seeing them in the flesh though at the bike show and then it will be decision time.
In the meantime if anyone is interested in a 2013 PP please get in touch.

  8. How many miles and what is your price expectation?

  9. It might go up in value, now the new one is £19k+!! LOL

  10. I actually want the first model of the PP as with cam modifications and other tuning some +195BHP can be made at the rear wheel. I want to make the exhaust valve into a "town and country" manually operated function. A bit like air horns back in the 70~80s.

  11. I have just priced up an XR with full system and it makes so much more sense than the PP. You can also extend the BMW warranty which you no longer can do with Ducati! BMW doesnt have that sexy look of the Ducati, but I just feel a little peeved by Ducati trying to market that new PP at us, seems a con, especially as that DVT engine isnt quite sorted and the bike produces 20bhp less than the BMW when they quote the same figures. Its time for a change I feel.

  12. So interesting to hear you mention the GT, been looking at this too. I think I might miss that high riding position though, thats my only concern. I commute everyday on mine and love having my bars above the average wing mirror. Seems silly but its my only slight reservation. However, no doubt it will be a very good bike. £16k though before you start putting bits on? Maybe the XR is still the better choice, I dont know!!

  13. For all the Xr's flaws you have to look at the package and how it rides.

Ultimately it's not as nice looking but it can be made to look fairly aggressive and that's good enough. It stands more athletic in my eyes, doesn't look as broad.

In terms of vibrations I just didn't get that feeling, even if I did there's now heavier bars ends that eliminate it.

I do really like the dvt but it's just not as appealing as the older version to me, it's lost a little edge somewhere along the lines. I keep weighing it up over and over but haven't quite bitten yet so somethings wrong

Let's be honest, they'll be a revised version out towards the end of next year so might be worth looking at it then.

  14. I for one am not disappointed.
I was seriously thinking of getting one.
having seen their offering, they have saved me a lot of money as Ill keep the one Ive got! :)

  18. That's top Money for a top bike.
It will need £800~1000 for the big service due at 15k miles.
There are a couple with that spec plus large panniers (may be not heated).:Angelic:
