Yes, you can and a Ducati dealer can setup the virgin to your keys with their rather expensive Ducati tablet, FYI, last year, I enquired to a vendor in the UK and they quoted me around £450 for a new OEM ECU, but they dicked me around when I asking some questions, so i cancelled my order. As a rule, I very rarely deal with UK vendors and prefer US vendors.. New OEM ECU's are out there and for reasonable prices. I'll check some info tomorrow and get back to you.
it seems a lot of guesswork going on. surely they have had it running on the diagnostics, or crypton, you say it runs and misfires at low revs.
Thanks Chris. I have asked that member if I can buy. Regarding the mech - I feel he has given me the run around for sure. I don't think he is out to rip me off or anything but I do think his knowledge is lacking somewhat with Ducati servicing and that is where all these problems stem from.
We have changed - Plugs Coils Injectors Air Filters Clean filter ducting as this was filthy It will now only run when hooked up. Changed loom for a new one etc etc. And now ECU is next. Long story but read through, its all there.
If I can sort an ECU to plug and play somehow hopefully I can put this to bed and chalk it down to experience.
i was trying to build a picture up of what is happening, but your not giving out a lot of information, from previous threads, you have changed everything bar the kitchen sink, fair enough you gotta try, you say mis fire, do you mean its over fueling and firing down the ex pipes
It was anything part throttle up to 3000 rpm or so. Most noticeable when pulling away obviously. If you were to pull away using above 3000 rpm, fine, no problems. CO has also been reset along with TPS.
I smelled like an over fuel but the mech says when the sniffer was attached to the exhaust it was actually ok, but then went on to say that he could reduce fuelling any more and that the injectors must be pooling so changed those fir 12 point injectors.
I do think the mech is right but how we got here has been long winded and fraught with 'maybes', he even went as far to blame my new earth strap and the new fuel relay that I had fitted. Clutching at straws!
There is no problem getting a another ECU coded to suit existing clocks. So get a second hand one and get it done by some one like Chris W or Scorpio Electronics or Avanti Race Parts, etc. I'm still a little confused why they are saying the immobilizer needs to be removed, this is only necessary if you are converting the bike for the track and you want to remove the ignition key.
