Book my first track day in sunny spain at parcmotor in april, need some tyre recommendations from you hooligans, dont think my 7k pr4's are gonna cut it
Ive been on track with PR4's, no prob, great grip, not sure about 7K previous miles though...? If there is plenty of tread left im sure you will be fine
Yeah getting a bit low now, bike away for winter so wont be changing till around march, just thinking of trying something different that might be a little more appropriate
I run the Dunlop 211's/212's on my 1098, brilliant tires, but I don't think you'll be able to utilize the full potential of these on the Multistrada. I would opt for the Dunlop Q3's, assuming you can get those, or the Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP's, the same tires that come as OEM on the 1299.
I use Metzeler racetec interact K3 front and rear on my Zx6 when doing track days in Spain. The weather will be warm, they heat up quickly and when you return to Uk road riding , they will still look like new in the middle of the tyre. They are classed as a road tyre and occasional track use. Currently a set for a MT are on ebay for £175.
Dunlop Q3's are largely the same as Sportsmarts, they're pretty good tyres although the newer 2's aren't quite as good as the originals. Try the M7rr Metzeler, I've got a pair in my garage i had briefly fitted to the beemer, they're really good and will also do you well on the road.
I put Bridgestone s20 on, much to the chagrin of everybody I know who said they were crap and a second a lap slower than supercorsas. Well, a second a lap doesn't bother me. But a better all round tyre that is great on the road and still decent for the track I have yet to find.
If it's your first track day get some tyres that you'll be able to use afterwards as well. I've always liked Dunlops so used Sportsmarts on the track, they're more than sticky enough to drag the pegs etc, and they'll be more useful on the road over here.
I've just been researching various tyre options for my first track event with the MTS (16 plate S). Gone with the Metzeler M7RR, it was a choice between that and the Dunlop sportsmart2 but saw an MCN review on you tube which tilted it slightly. Wanted a tyre that I would also get some decent road mileage out of as well. I'll report back after the day
