Does anybody know the total production numbers for the 1098R? I know the Bayliss was numbered, but can't find anything for the standard bike.
Hang on a minute and I'll look into my crystal ball . Sorry in a mischievous mood and couldn't resist. Andy
All helpful stuff chaps. :Woot: The reason I ask is that I ask, is that I thought it would be pretty low, being a homologation exercise for WSB, however you have the 500 Bayliss bikes. I've seen some USA bikes with numbered yokes upto 450 I think. So it seems like there are quite a few. I just wondered if anybody avtually knew.
Ducati UK pre registered 100 bikes in 2008 to homologate the bike for BSB, the Baylis rep followed in 2009 and the model ceased production by 2010. From recent conversations there were very few non Ducati pre registered bikes sold, so you have however many Baylis reps sold in the UK plus say less than 110 1098Rs. What has that got to total, less than 130 ? Andy
As it was a homoligation(?) For WSB you could possibly check the rules for bikes required during the 1098 years for a minimum number.
For 2008 and 2009 all manufacturers, irrespective of their total production numbers, will have to produce a minimum of 1000 bikes in order to get an homologation. For 2010 onwards the minimum production number will be increased to 3000 bikes. Has anyone ridden a 1098r and an 1198s? Would like to know how they compare. Sorry to hijack the thread.
Yes, there is a big difference in the way the 1098R makes and delivers the power. Far more urgent and raw compared to the 1198.
As suggested above, I mailed Ducati in Italy asking the question yesterday. They mailed back this morning (after calling me twice on the phone) to confirm that Ducati built a total of 1373 1098R bikes, a bit less than I thought they would have made. I assume the Bayliss bikes were additional to these. They also asked me about 2 other bikes I own ! Big brother is watching or what :Nailbiting:
