1098 Termignoni Exhaust Question

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Sikorsky From Hell, Dec 22, 2015.

  1. Hi,

Recently bought a 1098 with a full Termignoni exhaust system with a Power Commander, but without the baffles fitted. Sound is amazing, but as I didn't want to annoy my neighbours too much, I put in the baffles.

On starting up, the engine cut out and gave an error message. I thought "Oh f*** what have I done?" As any sensible person would do, I retreated to the kitchen and made a cup of tea and pondered what to do next. After a few minutes, I turned on the ignition and left it alone for a couple of minutes. I then tried to start the engine again and it fired up first time. Have since ridden a few hundred miles and all is well.

It seems as though the Power Commander / ECU had to recalibrate itself. Does that sound normal when fitting the baffles?

Thanks for any advice or info.

    Cheers,

    SFH.

P.S with the baffles fitted, sound went from angry fire breathing dragon to just disgruntled fire breathing dragon!

  2. That's an odd one, tbh I would not have thought it made that bigger difference. The normal Ducati up maps aren't changed for baffle in or out and on my 848 Evo I even ran the aftermarket pipes on standard ECU with no issues.

I would suggest the power commander had a funny 5 mins, it's possible as ultimately it's another electronic box messing around with fuelling.

If it continues I would personally consider selling the power commander and getting a custom map done on the standard ECU which will set it up perfectly for your engine

  3. Thanks for the info and advice. Seems ok now, but if it happens again, I'll see about getting a custom map done.

    Cheers,

  5. I reckon it was the angry fire breathing dragon showing its "character"..
