749 Ducati 749r...ebay

  1. 2005 749R on eBay. Stated its a Limited Edition model? Also they suggest that only 500 were made (must have insider info!)

What makes it a Limited Edition, the R is the R model...or am I missing something?

  2. Looks like an independent car dealer selling that. He's probably not clued up wiith selling bikes so is using his standard descriptive powers to move it on.
Similar to those Vauxhall Corsa "Limited Editions" with a few stickers on them and a silly exhaust...maybe even some neon running lights....

  3. I think the ''ltd edition'' tag is just possibly the dealer trying to attract more attention to his listing, or it may also show his ignorance of the marque...I read somewhere that @500 749r's were produced per year that they were in production, so he might have got some of his info correct...the price seems to be about the going rate and if I had the spare dosh i'd probably have a serious look at it, I've been looking at acquiring one of these to accompany my 999S in the garage.

  4. I have 2004 749R, but wouldn't describe it as Limited Edition, its the top spec for that model of bike so has uprated components and manufactured in smaller numbers to give it more exclusivity. However, the bike on eBay seems reasonably priced.

  5. Looks like the dealer doesn't really know what he's talking about by calling it a limited edition, but as mentioned above he's more than likely a car dealer who wouldn't necessarily know his onions regarding the different spec between models...doing a bit of research into the vehicles he has for sale would probably give him a bit more credibility, but his price is about right.

  6. Very poor ad
    States first registration 2008.
I emailed them a few days back with no reply as yet.
Looks good in the pic and with the limited info posted, if correct
I'm concened by the company though, only registered on ebay for a few months and they are clearly a car sales.
I'll try ringing between chrstmas and new year for info if still for sale

  10. Hahaha it's called car dealer descriptive Licence! Estate agents have it as well!I remember in the early 80's buying a parcel of 30 MK 3 ex plod 1100/1300cc escort hatchbacks in white and gimping them up with nasty xr3 fake body kits, spoilers, garish stripes and alloys! Looking back they were awful but we sold them quicker than we could create the horrors - got stick on badges made up "White Lightening".Hahaha - wish I had some photos???

  11. A few years back someone did a check with the DVLA and found there were only 51 or so registered in the UK.

No doubt a few written off since then. Only 1262 were produced, so less than the Desmosedici. They had to sell a minimum of 500 for homologation purposes.

So whilst not a limited edition, I think most people would agree that's fairly limited, especially the carbon fibre clad version.

  12. well he states in the advert he is selling it under the RRP. Can someone tell me what a used 749R retail price is? Its also a 740cc, therefore I guess it really is Limited Edition. Also why the stock library photo!

  13. Wisebuyers say £3933 for a 2006 trade (these bikes are always way under valued on book price) I would guess £5K ish would be Book Retail.

  14. about 4K but its supply and demand, so 6-7k. 10k? lol
