My second Multi is approaching its third birthday and am getting restless thoughts. Have had rides in a Diavel and Monster 1200 over the last year but none would allow the versatility of my Multi. Should a second bike be considered and would welcome views on running two bikes. Love the look of the new black 1200r but sense would mean a used monster 1200s. Decisions decisions!
Mutley is the best bike ever....simple. I'd like to ride the XDiavel...can someone lend me a dark visor'ed crash hat and a leather jacket with tassels?
I agree with Paul, for me the Multistrada is the best all rounder and have no need for a second road bike, of any style. Okay I've got the 853 but that is focussed for the track and is my passion. Andy
The good thing about the DVT Multi and Pre DVT is the bikes are night and day difference, so it would be a whole new experience.
Interesting question spanish - have you thought about something a bit different for a second bike like a road going crosser so you can do some green laning - great all year round including the depths of winter.
my multi touring s skyhook 2014 hasnt had any issues at all 8500 miles now test rode BMW s1000 xr at the weekend inline 4 seemed very fast but so different to mine couldnt realy say if it was better or not. i liked the bm mine in sports mode is seriously fun but i'm sure the BM accelerated harder and faster will i change ,,probably will when my multi turns 3 wont get DVT
I've also tested an S1000XR for an afternoon. My impression was that the Beemer was the opposite of my 2012 single spark Multi in that it feels fast because it is frantic and busy but when I looked at the speedo I wasn't actually travelling as fast as I thought. I would need another go to decide if I could live with it. Me neither - I found it too civilised and has lost the feel of an upright sports bike. I haven't seen one in the flesh yet (which might put me off) but a Yamaha MT-10 with large screen, comfort seat, knuckle guards, heated grips and oil cooler / radiator guards would come it at just over £10,900 or £11,100 with a quick shift. Might see if I can get a demo on one.
I have no barometer to measure it against previous mutley's frankly JH_1986. All I know is I've about 300miles before my second run in is finished & I can fully open up the engine. And I don't understand those who say its a gutless bike because its a friggin monster power wise although I am a tourer rather than sports biker. I don't need to counter-steer that much to make it turn in any direction. I'am coming from a bike with 90hp to one with 160hp so everything seems far more meaty, it doesn't scare me but sure is heavy once you drop 33 litres of fuel into it. Giving a range of steady riding around 400+miles.
Multi all the way man, no better machine out there in my opinion, i also have a ZX12R that is soon to become an ornament in the flat somewhere....
