My battery on my ducati multistrada 1000ds is flat can anyone tell me where the battery is? I can then replace it with a new one.. Also is there any mobile mechanics in the cambridge and huntingdon area that maybe able to asist. New to biking and not very good at things like this
It's under the l/h cover that is held on by a clip to the rear that you slide off the locating pin, plus a dzus fastener that is inside towards the front often obscured by the oil lines but accessible from either putting your hand down inside the fairing or upwards from underneath by the fork leg. When you have the clip off and the dzus undone, gently pull the cover away from the rubber grommets that pins on the cover push into, take care to not break the plastic moulded clips on the top edge of the cover. A torch to illuminate the above will help.
Thanks have located the pins and removed them and that allows the front and bottom to become free but the top right won't budge ?
The cover is also held in place by some rubber grommets along the rear/top edge. Prise the cover away and you'll be there. Just keep an eye on the little clips on the front upper edge...
Also, when re-fitting the cover be very sure that you've done the metal Dzus fastener up fully. It's a common issue, with lots of people having their panel fly off at speed. It happened to me, fortunately landing without too much damage on a traffic free road, so I was able to retrieve it. It's quite tight to do up, so just be sure you've got it fully engaged.
