[QUOTE I also think it helps them to appease their own bigotry with stuff like what happened to those poor women in germany over the new year. Suddenly every single immigrant/muslims a rapist.[/QUOTE] Not every one Red but 18 out of 31 so far. Cologne attacks: 18 asylum seekers among 31 suspects - BBC News Seriously, if this report is true, what the bloody hell is going on.
It's tough not to be drawn into a monochrome way of thinking when you read stuff like this. In many Muslim cultures, women are seen, at best, as second class citizens or, more likely, objects to be owned. This attitude is instilled from birth, in both sexes, so they "know it's right". This is a generalization and can't be applied to all Muslim men but, I think, is pervasive in Muslim culture, especially among the uneducated and unworldly. Unquestioning belief can be a very dangerous thing when two cultures with different belief systems meet. While I'm not saying it was all down to asylum seekers, but using them as an example for sake of argument, asylum seekers come pretty low in the pecking order and it may well be an affront to the males among them to see women hold the place they do in western society. I wonder if that's behind the attacks. This attitude towards women isn't just a problem in Muslim society, its endemic in our own( though played down these days). It's the hidden undercurrent that drives much gender based humour and pay-scale differentials. We shouldn't tolerate such dark age thinking wherever we come across it.
I think @Wally makes some very good points, here Allison Pearson developes some of those points. Cologne assault: Cultural difference is no excuse for rape - Telegraph
"Not every one Red but 18 out of 31 so far. Cologne attacks: 18 asylum seekers among 31 suspects - BBC News Seriously, if this report is true, what the bloody hell is going on?" "Majority of attackers are asylum seekers" does NOT in any way correlate to "majority of asylum seekers are attackers". It's not good, granted, and as has been previously stated there may be some cultural reasons behind the attacks. But - the majority of asylum seekers are not going around harrasing / attacking people... But this is all getting a little "off topic"...
its the written word thing. written down? must be believable we are social beasts. well some are anyhoo, :Angelic::smileys:. what we all doing on ere?
As I said my daughter opened an account for me on Facebook and I closed it soon as she left the house! Who gives a flying fuck that you are having a glass of Pino Grigio in the bath???
I'm nudging 60 so in most kids eyes an old crusty fukker? Can't remember exactly what my mates and I got upto as juveniles but our main plan was to get out of the house and away from our parents as much as possible? A lot of the time was spent climbing over shop fences and blagging fizzy pop bottle and soda syphons (the holy grail @ half a crown!) cashing the deposits in and finding a "friendly" corner shop to get a party seven watneys to take to a party and try and pull the local bike! Only problem is my mate married her -didn't end well!!!
The only thing wrong with FaceBook is that loads of people use it. Where loads of people are involved, there's always going to be a lot of crap - just like real life. FB is a great tool for keeping in touch with people but you have to use it properly. You can "turn off" notifications from people you don't need to hear from. Also, it is perceived that the more "friends" you have on FB, the better it is. I disagree - the fewer you have, the better! The signal to noise ratio is much improved that way. As for Twitter, I don't use it. If I did, I would "follow" Stephen Fry and that's about it. There's no need for anyone else on Twitter to be making posts or tweeting or whatever it is they do there, as far as I can tell.
Twitter..........the real-time version of 'What have you done today?'. Twatter.........the real-time version of 'What am I going to do today?' Twutter........the real-time version of 'What am I going to do tomorrow?' Twetter........the real-time version of 'The Enviroment Agency Flood Warning Map'. Twotter........a family from Peckham with a speech impediment.
I read it on the internet must be the bane of salesmen's lives. Once you recognise that it is easier to find bad news than good news on the internet and recalibrate accordingly it is a useful tool.
The irony of a thread on the internet full of crap posts about people who post crap on the internet. The epitome of self-referential navel gazing.
