Breaking very late 748S

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by OllyA, Oct 8, 2012.

  1. Hi all- I've just joined as regrettably by 14,000 miles my 52 plate 748S has suffered it's 2nd engine breakdown. I'm breaking now, the bike is very very clean- and has never been down the road or dropped. The only parts that I've sold so far are the tank, rear light and screen. Mods include full 50mm Termi set (not just slip-ons) and fully adjustable Harris rear-sets. Obviously this model had the 5 spoke marsechini magnesium alloys and gold TIN coated forks. I still have the wheels- the rear has a 500 mile old Michelin Pilot 2CT on it and the front has the same- albeit about 2mm above the wear bar. Please inbox me if you need anything. The first engine fault was the crank and shell bearings- this was remedied, but I had a £750 service carried out at Baxter Bike Services (BBS Ducati) and 200 miles later she was dead again. Upon inspection he informed me it was the alternator end bearing.

  2. ow much you looking for the engine as is ?

  3. I have PM'd you.

  4. Just to reiterate- BBS Ducati (Baxter Bike Services) Gravesend did the first and second re-build on this engine. It is now being sold for spares at 14,000 miles old, along with the rest of the bike.

  5. I might've seen this there, as I know Mike very well.

I think I suggested and knew of a 996 replacement for the bike.

It is a clean bike, shame you're breaking it.

They will be ally wheels, not mag. If they are standard fitment.

  6. Indeed- a 996 replacement was suggested by Mike, but judging on past history, I couldn't afford to take that risk. They are standard fitment. Congratulate yourself with a massage from Mike!!

  8. How much for the wheels? are they in decent nick?

  9. I'd be interested in the rearsets, are they gold? Needless to say subject to price:rolleyes::smile:

  10. Gents- the wheels are £525 including disks and are in immaculate condition. Re the rear-sets, you have PM.

  12. Thanks for the pic , I'l give the rearsets a miss thanks, was looking for gold as the black dosent really suitmy particular bike. I'm sure someone else will be delighted to gettheir paws on some Harris rearsets in black.

  13. Hello, would you be selling your rear paddock stand at some point? If so, how much would you like for it? Am after a genuine Ducati stand that allows the rear wheel to spin when on the stand as its a pain in the butt cleaning the dam chain and wheel without one! Sorry to hear about the bike!

  14. The wheels are alloy not magnesium, ally wheels have the ridges on the spokes, mag wheels don't

  15. Sorry to hear you're having to break such a well looked after bike. Hope you get all you're asking for. Whoever buys the parts will be getting good stuff.

  16. R.I.P :-( How much for both side fairings?? What condition are they in??

  17. £180 + postage? There are a few scratches low on the stand side one- but not through the paint. There is a piece of lacquer that has come away on the other one, about the size of a 1p piece- neither are noticeable. No cracks or lugs missing.

  18. PM'd
