848 Bike Went For Its 1st Mot Today....

  1. And passed with only a tweak to the dipped beam aim needed (was worried that the xenon bulb might have been a fail, but obviously not)

    Two problems though...

    1) it got bloody filthy riding there and back (nothing 1 1/2 hours of cleaning couldn't resolve)

    2) noticed while cleaning it that one bolt from the heat shield has done a disappearing act, as as the spacer - where's the best place to get replacements? A dealer, or is there an alternative? And.... What's the best thread lock to use when refitting them?

  2. I would get the bolt from the dealer if it is visible, on my Multi they have used a specific bolt head so the keen eye will spot a non genuine replacement. I am missing one from the cubbyhole section.
As for thread lock, blue is the colour you want, red is permanent and needs either determination or heat to release it.

  3. Moto Rapido for the bit. You will need to hit £10 for postage so buy some chain lube too.

  4. I might have a couple kicking about. I'll have a look tomorrow. I have some fancy titanium ones as well if you're interested.

  5. That would be great... If you can't find them, I guess I'm off down to the dealer to get some on order

  6. I needed them and the dealer wanted £35 for the 3 screws plus spacers ... i managed to make do with stainless steel ones i had

I put liquid gasket on the thread to stop them vibrating out like the last ones

  7. I have some mate, I'll dig them out tomorrow.

  8. You say your zenon bulb passed the MOT. Is that a HID xenon kit with separate ballast or just a halogen bulb described as xenon?

  9. Most MOT testers are not that bothered as long as the beam pattern is okay, with the 848's projector lens it would have been the crisp beam pattern that they expect to see... Similar thing with exhaust's, a lot of bike testers don't give two hoots how loud it is.

  10. Yep, proper HID kit with separate ballast (massive improvement over standard lights).... As above, they did say it was bright, but they can't fail it for light intensity, only on beam pattern/aim, which as it is in a projector housing gives a good sharp cut-off... It was a little bit high, but they adjusted it and it passed.

  11. That would be awesome... Let me know what you want for them..
