899 Ready To Go

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by simmytt, Jan 24, 2016.

  1. Well the 899 project continues.I have owned my 899 from new,it is a December 2013 first release model that i purchased early because of the free Termi offer, over the past 2 years i have slowly made the bike my own with a long term plan of how i wanted the bike to look and what parts were on my wish list,i wanted a no compromise build using only quality parts, only problem is i do not have a no compromise wallet,so most of the parts were sourced second hand from good people off here, ebay and Ducati parts online and a couple of guys from the 899 race series,i have never sat down and listed the spec of my bike so for the first time i am going to write down all the mods i have carried out.I tried to do most of the work myself, anything i was not comfortable with was left to the lads a JHP .I have kept all of the original parts with the exception of the wheels and the engine casing. My first buy was all the bits that were taken off a race prepped 899,fairings,lights switches ect, this is my own track day insurance policy and puts my mind at ease (well a little)that i have the parts to repair the bike in case of a off.My 899 is nearing completion now with alot of the main items being finished,on the things to do list are dp carbon keyguard and shock cover, auto blipper,dp lightened flywheel and i am not that happy with the colour of the brake calipers.

  2. Awesome

  3. Lovely spec! Any reason particularly that you left the heat guards off the rear cylinder covers? To show them off I guessed? Do u notice much more heat without them?

The wheels are lush, definitely my fav mod! What is the weight saving over standard?

  4. Very nice. I don't usually like gold wheels on any vehicle but they work on yours!

I also like the white design on the side fairings. Where did that come from?

  5. Tbh it runs a lot hotter with the ali subframe i think it acts as a heatsink but i am hoping the ti exhaust will disperse the heat better.I would say its deffo a few kg lighter than a 1199 now,i would love to weigh it but dont know a accurate way of doing it ?,my fave mods to date are the rear ttx, made the bike so much better and the seat made a huge difference, most disappointing mod was the quickshifter the standard one is pretty good, but will be changing it when i get the auto blip as it comes with a new shifter.

  7. The paint follows the white red and black theme of the Ducati superleggra, pikes peak and a few others.

  8. Ah, nice! I've gone the poor man route and had my 899 shock rebuilt by MCT which I'm hoping will be a big improvement, an Ohlins will be in my future I think!

  9. Lovely bike. What chain have you put on it and where did you get it from?

  10. Keep your eyes open for a rear Ohlins off a 1199s,they go quite cheap and then get it revalved with manual adjusters but i am sure you will be chuffed with the work MCT do.

  11. Its a RK chain, being a 520 they are not as expensive as you may think,i got it from Jhp and they fitted it at first service, they use them on their race bikes so i guess the must be pretty good.

  12. I've just seen this and assume it would fit yours...GENUINE DUCATI SUPERLEGGERA 1199 1199R FULL CARBON MONO SUBFRAME | eBay

  13. I think this has to be one of my favourite 899's. What a great spec :upyeah:

You might want to change that rear brake fluid at some point mind :tearsofjoy:

  14. That looks super sexy, infact I've got a little bit of a stiffy. Imagine if you'd done this a few years ago, just where would you have put the tax disc?
