How Far Do You Travel For Servicing/repairs

  1. The Ducati is serviced at home by me (the SS is a dream to work on) likewise the CBR, FZR and Cub. The Benelli is done at home for oil changes, and I'll be using Forza Italia for 3000 6000 and 9000 services. Currently only have 1200 on the clock, so it only had its first service 600 miles ago.

  2. 10 mile to ducati john. Good friend and I trust him not to rob me. Been using him for the past 12 years.

  3. And as he is a complete sweetie he even dropped by yesterday in his van and picked my Monster up for a belt service and new tyres so it will be ready for the Italian day at Bristol in April and the trip the Black Forest in May. He is a star!

  4. About 25 miles to SMC or i might take it to Doncaster motorcycles, less than 10 miles.

I will call in and see them to see if they will work with the warranty smc sold me then DM will probably get my custom.

  5. 6 Miles P&H Motorcycles or 15 Pro twins. Always get a lift home from my wife, but it always costs me......!

  6. Well after reading through this thread, I don't feel so bad about my 140 mile round trip to Moto-R. Ride there, hang around for a few hours enjoying the delights of Ruithin, then ride home again!

  7. 80 mile round trip but dual carriage way and motorway all the way (used to be 140 miles for the Benelli).

  8. About 40 miles each way to Woods for servicing and any warranty. That have looked after me well so far. I just hang around and drink coffee and watch BBC news!
Next time in I may try a scrambler.

  9. DMC Stoke is about 40 miles from Warrington

  10. DMC Stoke about 12 miles and great service, loan bike, lift home or just chill with a coffee

  11. About 40 miles to Carl Harrison in Norfolk. Ride to him sometimes, others he picks up from my home (like this week or next, to fix it where I dropped the b*gger). Always get good service and a very fair price.

  12. I travel 41 miles (or 65 via the more interesting route) to Cornerspeed for faultless service from a guy I completely trust with my life, only 31 miles to Ducati Coventry for me (but just can't get on with the service manager whom I find rather patronising so would rather deal with someone I am comfortable with) again the service the wksp provide is faultless and completely trustworthy.
Not wishing to upset anyone with the above, just my opinion :Sorry:

  13. I have my engine work carried out about 11/2 hours away at the moment. Servicing I may try those guys at Silverstone.

I have limited time but I can be a bit OCD when I do things. I just don't really enjoy spending the limited time off I have in the garage.

I've unfortunately seen too many experts scratching their heads, getting it wrong, trial and error or trying to BS customers. I've had an argument before at one company and left a few really unhappy with the service.

I have trust issues with people working on my kit. Some recommendations come from people who have limited knowledge so that can have mixed results. Customer service is important though.

  14. zero they come and get it in a van ..for small extra fee

  15. I ride 27 miles, and they let me take a service bike for as long as i need it. No problem. On Yer Bike in Aylesbury

  16. 40ish miles for me to the nice men at Snell Performance in Alton. I specifically bought my 1199 from them on the strength of service after they looked at my previous bike that I had bought second hand. Everyone is human and has their strengths and weaknesses but for me the important thing is knowing that I can trust them and be looked after well.

  17. I don't know the mileage but it's about 2 1/2 hours each way from Long Island to european cycle services in Middletown NY.I have 3 ducati dealers all with in 10 min to 45 minutes close to me but I say Hell No to all 3 of em when it's time to get something done.

  18. 60 miles each way for me to Ducati Aylesbury this week
Was bloody chilly, but at least the sun was shining, and service only took 3 hours

  19. Did that include valves? I was told valves have to be stone cold to be checked.
