1200 Cat Removal

  1. Having problems removing the original pipework
Undone front exhaust studs no bother as well as all fixings holding the exhaust on but other than getting the exhaust down the studs about 1" it will not budge?
How much force do you need?!

  2. When I did mine I had the misfortune to snap two of the exhaust studs but the horizontal exhaust came off easily. Had you considered double nutting the studs and removing them from the head ? It comes with a risk but it may be the only way to get the necessary clearance. Andy

  3. A very very heft tug from a 19 stone man, after him wiggling it for 20 minutes.

  4. Though I assume it has to clear the front studs first ie order of tugging (!) is
    down off the front studs
    remove front pipe
tug backwards off the bike to release off the rear pipe and off by then pulling down?
Has anyone had to remove the front studs? Bit nervous about breaking them

  5. Have you undone the bolts that secure the CAT ? I'm guessing you might just get enough wiggle room if you tilt it. If you have a mechancs mate, it might be possible to remove the CAT with the rear pipe first. Andy

  6. There are only two one either side secured onto rubber bolts ? Yep removed them but all seems very solid

  9. Hi
Just took the cat off my 2015 dvt, had to loosen the front header bolts, but not take them off
Also loosened the 13mm nut on the vertical header pipe clamp
The cat then came down and free of the vertical header and then back to remove it from the front header.
    Cheers

  10. HI looks like my 2015 bike is a little different to your 2014, on page 78 my bike does not have the spring no 13, instead it has the clamp and bolt arrangement I mentioned.

you will need to remove both springs and loosen the 3 header nuts on the front header pipe.

    all the best

  11. Ok thanks for looking
Am going to take the bike down off the bench and hopefully be able to exert more force as everything is undone inc the front header bolts

  12. Just removed the whole system on my 2015, no problem what so ever! Will fit the full Termi next week! Wonder how to hide the exhaust valve wire though? Ok, no wire cutter!
