Monster 1100

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by Algee, Feb 17, 2016.

  1. Hello everyone, a newbie to this forum, live down the West Country, been a biker for some time, old git!! had all sorts and now settled into a monster 1100 10 plate. love it
Wonder if anyone can help me with setting up the Showa forks on these bikes, the handbook seems to think you know how to do it, but I'm not sure if you have to turn all settings clockwise or anti clockwise.
    Any assistance greatly appreciated.
    Keep warm out there!!❄️

  4. Welcome to the forum. I can't help with your question but I'm sure someone will be along shortly to help you out.

  5. Hi Algee, you can adjust both ways so it depends where you are starting from and what you want to achieve. Can you find factory settings in the manual and get back to those and then start to make changes and see how it feels ? Remember everything effects everything else so may be worth making notes of what you do.

  6. Cheers I'll try that, it's just soo hard, you hit a bump and it shakes my old bones to bits, maybe wait till weather warms up some ta!

  7. I had an 1100 monster and found the same but noticed when I took Mrs Dukesox on the back that the ride improved hugely. You should perhaps find a pillion and see if the same thing applies in which case you need to get the suspension to behave as if you have a pillion when you are on your own.

  12. Welcome! Got an M1100S that has Ohlins so can't really help.
    Normally though:
Turn adjusters all the way in clockwise, then back out anti-clockwise the recommended number of clicks or turns.
