My (almost) standard 1098R with a 70mm system, oil and half a tank of petrol weighed in at the MoT station this afternoon at 181kg. Andy
Not me :Grumpy:. No drama, shook its head a couple of times, pawed the air once and missed a gear once. It will be a long time before I'm comfortable red lining in a gear once let alone half a dozen times. Andy
Guess I should really stop lurking on here. Been browsing this forum for a few years and had signed up last year or so. Another 1098R owner here as of last February. I need to put some miles on it and hopefully make it down to some of the Ducati track days, looking at the Silverstone one in particular.
I think you should all bring them to Silverstone ducati day and have a mini 1098r challenge cup!! That be interesting.
I own a 1098R Bayliss. 70MM Termi system with slash cut cans. JHP rear sets with race change. 14T front sprocket. JHP carbon swing arm cover. Ducati carbon hugger. JHP open clutch cover. JHP quick action throttle. JHP carbon V piece. JHP alloy fuel filler. JHP alloy front & rear wheel bolts. Ducati front sprocket cover.
Add me to the owner's list too, I'll post more details when I get a chance, here's a few pics in the meantime............ (Btw - the tricolore will be for sale soon if anyone's interested)
Any recommendations on batteries guys? I had a lithium ion which has packed up under a year (trying to get it replaced) but wondered if there is anything worth looking at? I know the R (maybe 1098's in general) take quite a lot of power to crank that beast of an engine over.
I just fitted a Shido and that hates the cold. Up to temperature no problems. It might also be a duff main earth which is worth checking. Shido has a 3 or 5 year guarantee. The one fitted to my 853 is great. Andy
After my previous conversation with the lovely Fabiana at Bologna, where she told me that Ducati produced 1373 1098Rs between 2008 - 2009. I sent her a mail today to ask if that included the Bayliss bikes, or whether they were an additional 500 on top of this. She called me this afternoon and told me that there are a total of 1373 1098Rs, including the 500 Bayliss bikes. So .....873 red u'ns, 500 Bayliss's. Rarer than I thought. 872 red u'ns owned by forum members on here.
Hey Exige, was looking at your starter cables as well - might be able to do a deal :tongueclosed:! I'll take some pics & put up some proper details at the weekend
