Hi, past my test 3 years ago ish, am 48, and will test a multistrada tomorrow, anything to look for, its a demonstrator, not one of 3 to choose from that are for sale, that I cant ride? Ill insist i test , if i choose one, assuming i like it. do i go for the 2012 ex demo, or the 2010 with silly low miles on, that has a few extras on it, im erring towards the 2012, if only for the warranty. Been riding a Shiver, just done a week in europe on it 2 up, but it's a bit small for the touring game any views info, cheers.
I'd be tempted by the 2012 one also, warranty, updates should be less hassle, you don't state which models they are though, if an S make sure you try all of the modes etc to make sure all of the electronics are working as expected. If a touring don't forget you should get heated grips, centre stand and panniers, likewise the Sport should have all of the carbon bling
Go new as pos with warranty, as stated above most of the early problems on the 2010 bikes would be sorted on the 2012 machine. Get a decent ride out on the machine and make sure you are happy with the strength and function of the rear brake especially if you intend to do a lot of 2 up touring
I second and third everyones view mate, get the latest model as possible, 2 year warranty and the miles are the ones you put on the bike, not someone else! And if you test ride, you will buy no mistake.....I did......
Hi AIS, Agree with everyone above but I'd also suggest testing the bike two up if possible especially if it's one of the reasons for changing? Mark H Oh, bye the way, once you've ridden it you'll be hooked regardless!
Test ride with your pillion is a must if you plan on doing a lot of touring, or even if your other half usually comes out with you. I wouldn't buy a bike without taking Nicky with me as we are usually out together. I haven't ridden the latest Multi. I daren't as I couldn't afford to buy one and all the reports I've read lead me to believe that I'd want one if I did! Buy the newest you can afford with the least miles then as the other post suggests they'll be your miles on the clock. Good luck, Chris.
I take it these bikes are located at Motorapido? If so I had the same dilemma and test rode the their demonstrator, I have decided to wait until early next year but I shall be going for an 11 or 12 model
I'm going to stick up for 2010 model, its exactly the same spec and the dealer will sort any recalls before it goes out! Ex demo equals thrashed and 2012 still equals a naff rear brake and screen. If you think the screen seems poor in terms of wind protection i got some aztec spacers through here they are cheap to buy and make a huge difference. You should get 12 month warranty regardless. Mine is a 2010 s touring had 2500 miles on it, mint and no issues to report 500 miles later. All depends on the deal i would say. Dont forget a new bike has 1k of free extras at the moment and an updated model is out in the next few months so they should all be a good deal. Or you could get a 2013 one...
