1200 Gps Connector Location

  1. Help!! I cannot find the GPS connector on my 1200S 2013. I have removed the left side fairing and I cannot find an empty 2 wire plug or the plug and socket with the short cut wire.

Can someone point me to the right direction where is hidden or even better a picture

    Many Thanks

  2. With the left hand panel removed you should be able to see two wires going into a sealed and crimped terminal. I snipped each wire, removed the terminal and stripped back the insulation on each wire. With an multi meter set to DC you should get 12v across them when the ignition is switched on. I soldered the gps wires to these and insulated them, cable tied the excess wire and buried it behind the fairing. Works well Sorry no pics.

  3. I was on the forum a few weeks ago asking the same question. The only panel you have to remove is the small black side infill panel held on by two screws. I could not find the white plug because the previous owner had taped the plug up with black insulating tape making it near impossible to see. There are photos and a diagram from a work shop manual on the forum showing the plug clearly.

  4. Mine was cut so short it was unusable. Ended up with a touratech TPS-15 power distribution thing.

  5. Hi Carr01,

  6. That's it in the 2nd pic. That top pic, you don't need to remove that panel

  7. @JH_1986 - cheers!. There is no plug/socket attached to it and the colours of the wires are red/blue and black.
Here is another picture for confirmation....

If yes, then I will need to source the other half .... and put back the bike together

  8. Or chop it and solder directly onto it. That's what the previous owner of mine did but unfortunately for me he cut it incredibly short.

  9. I'm using mine to power the GPS and also to power the spotlights... turns out that these connectors are rated at 3A so I might add a relay as it will be borderline... With that in mind, I found a UK supplier CPC that sell the housings in packs of 5 and the pins in packs of 10, so 5 sets for £8.60 with free postage.

I like things like this to be removable so won't be soldering into the bikes loom.

    CPC part numbers.

  10. As an FYI the top pic is where the heated grips power is located. The same white connector can be found by digging around in the black cable sleeve that the arrow points to.

  11. My Thanks to all. Just found a couple of Sure Seal connectors in my toolbox - will chop off the connector and use the Sure Seal ones which are waterproof as well.

You are a great bunch - never expected such an amazing response.

( in a couple of months I will be attempting the 15000 mile service ..... just keeping fingers crossed that some of you have already done that:grinning: :praying: )
