1200 DVT Annoying Frame Plugs

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by ColT, Mar 12, 2016.

  1. Is anyone else finding those rubber frame plugs that come as standard with the DVT annoying? Every now and then I go to put my leg down when stopping and find my bike trousers catch on it. One of these days I'm going to need to get my foot down real quick and not be able to.

Anyone found a solution to this apart from removing them as it's driving me mad? Looks like the ones Ducati sell just plug the other holes and are not replacements.

  4. Take them out, silicone spray them, change the way you move your leg.
If you put your thinking cap on you'll have your answer in no time

  5. How about putting your thinking cap on before writing daft answers. Silicon spray isn't going to help one bit if you wear fabric trousers. Taking them out won't help either as they have put them in to stop hitting your knee on the rough edges and would you change the way you sit if they neglected to put a seat in?? bad design is bad design and when you are in a hurry to stop the bike going over you haven't got time to worry about moving your leg in some sort of Monty Python silly walk fashion to avoid a stupid issue.

  7. It may depend on what trousers you are wearing (not a joke!). If I wear my Richa C Change trousers it is not an issue, they don't catch at all. I just bought some Rukka Armaxion Trousers and sometimes they do just catch on the LHS bung, not all the time but is has happened. maybe it depends on foot position on the pegs and the material of the trousers. No big deal and it is just something I am aware of, I don't expect a Ducati or a Rukka recall for it :).

  8. To be honest if this is the only problem I can find it's a good life and it's a great bike. I had the 2010 model from new and after testing a lot of other bikes I couldn't find anything better than the new DVT 2016. It's so good I managed to run it in in 3 days.

The Daniese fabric and leather trousers seem to have the issue. I noticed the issue a lot with the original seat on the demo models. the Touring seat is a lot better as it keeps your legs apart a bit more. still manage to catch it now and then. I'm suer there will be a photo of the bike on top of me a Italy attached to this thread in June. :tearsofjoy:

I've looked at the plug and the whole and I'm not sure how they could solve this problem without putting an extended plate over it to allow you to glide past. removing the bung actually makes the problem worse as you catch on the rough edges rather than just stick to the rubber.

If anyone does come up with a solution that doesn't involve an angle grinder I would love to hear it.:grinning:

One problem i have solved is the SatNav holder. I use my iPhone as a SatNav with the CoPilot app. I've mounted behind the screen just above the lever to adjust the screen. perfect position as i can see it whilst looking at the road. (I have a carbon race screen).

  9. It's a bloody quick sofa though! :grinning: did take my 2010 version around the nürburgring and Brands Hatch a few times. Surprised a lot of people when I flew past.

  14. Another Great Answer, yes I will do that with my 29" legs.
Also it does depend on the material of the trousers, like rubber on rubber, some have poppers that catch.
What are the prices of the CNC Plugs?

  15. Mine were £103.20 with fourum discount for 6 plugs the genuine Performance Ducati part is around £180 and you only get 4x and you don't get the big ones for the top bevelled ones that are causing your concern

  17. He's not sure why they aren't on the website when I called. I've ordered mine, thanks again!

  18. Let me know if they are a worthwhile change, £100 is a lot but it's cheaper than a low speed topple at the traffic lights!

I rode into London today on mine and I've got in a habit of moving my leg out slightly to the right as I put my foot down.
