I have seen on this thread http://ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/new-mts-price.30617/ that in UK is also hard to get an discount. I can not understand it, in all my new motorcycles, dealer made me always i nice attention! +/- 20%! In Portugal are two official sales dealers. In Lisbon, i'm waiting for more than a week for a contact to tell me the price that they make to an New on Multistrada S Red and in Porto +/- 600€ of discount! On a 20000€ motorcycle it is ridiculous and greedy by Ducati dealers! But if i go to Ducati.es they are already making an offer of a Touring pack, great for them. And here in Portugal, the ducati forum, the users say that is normal don't make an attention to the client, as Ducati is an exclusive brand, costumers don't get an discount!! Do you agree to?
I don't agree with it because of the mixture of crap parts used on a premium top tier motorbike manufacturer. Although if they are selling them, they certainly won't be inclined to lower the price. Now regarding the dealership sales percentage I don't have a problem with it. They invest a lot in the bling of the dealerships & training of staff so need to survive!
Hopefully on day they will need that costumer attention (that they don't give) and they will get it, so that they will stop only looking for their belly!
From what I have been told in the past bike shops make about 5% to 10% on a new bike. That is why they can't give big discounts. Usually dealers are rewarded for a high volume of sales with favourable prices from the manufacturer which then enables them to offer bigger discounts enabling them to sell more bikes. Ducati dealers do not sell the same number of bikes as a Honda dealer, so those type of incentives for the dealer will be much less for a Ducati dealer. Ducati themselves probably only make about 5% on each bike. The big profit margins are on clothing and accessories. The retail price of things like t-shirts and fleeces will be a 300% mark up from what Ducati pay for them - that is the standard profit magin in the clothing business. I would expect the retailer to make at least 100% on such items. As for accessories. Take for example some of the DP LED indicators which cost about £70. They are made by FAR in Italy. The exact same indicators (without Ducati packaging) can be bought for about £25 in Italy. I suspect that Ducati probably buy them for about £15. I am sure that they are not the only accessories that have such a big mark up on them. However unlike the clothing I suspect that dealer doesn't make a big profit from the accessories.
Ducati being an elite motorcycle brand charges premium prices. Customers that shop for a Ducati or a BMW know very well that their bank account will suffer. Minor discounts for packages or extras are given by dealers since they have a high markup. Bikes cost to Ducati a lot since expensive parts are used( from wheels to brakes to suspension etc). They miss the little stuff such as the expensive stainless screws, bolts and fasteners (whereas BMW doesn't). But premium price paid by Ducati customers is worth the thrill of riding this brand.
As long as people pay the price asked, they will not give a discount. Thing is, we want nice bikes and once had the est ride, its where do I sign.
I like to negotiate I'm a haggler regardless if I can afford to pay the screen price I'm going to try my best to not to I'll even walk if I need, I've had 2 dvt 's the first came with a discount and the second one that I have now is brand spanking new its not even registered until 1st match. So my latest deal was £1100 off the bike and I spent a further £3k on every OE carbon item Ducati make - fogs - billet indicators - billet res tops - the dealer gave me a further £500 discount (total £2500) Deals can be had depends on time of month and how good you are at negotiating. I've brought Bmw bikes as well and always got a minimum 5% off. The only bike at the mo I struggled to get anything off was a Ktm Gt due to it not even being out yet so I never bothered.
Main difference is based on taxes, especially in Portugal. In Spain, bmw is pushing hard and Ducati decided to make a movement, offering extra packages without extra cost.
I too am a haggler when it comes to the old hard earned. And I firmly believe that in life you are guaranteed a NO, so by asking you may get a YES. Also Ducati is a European brand, there for built a paid for in Euros, so the British dealers get a great deal buying in the Great British Pound and save a fortune at the moment enjoying a great exchange rate
Where did you purchase your Multi from? I'm waiting on a new demo coming into Ducati Glasgow and am paying cash and will add touring pack and a few other odds and sods so will be sticking my haggle head on! £1100 discount sounds a good amount did they fold easy or was it a thumbscrew job for that amount???
The first one I brought from Ducati Manchester but I'd avoid manchester and Stoke outlets like the plague [emoji35] the second one I brought from Blade Ducati @ Reading the sales bod was josh and he really couldn't do enough for me DMC could learn a lot from this young man .
Well, after solving the price problem, let's hope that the motorcycle has no problem because I bought a new one. It's just that if i wanted a bike to give me problems would have bought a motorcycle with a few years in the hands of some reckless who no longer have to do to euros and is not giving a damm to the state in which they leave it! Relatively to the price, Ducati North , was the chosen . Perhaps because it is closer, of my residence, to be able to negotiate , because the first best price was in LucaPower . But, in my view, a good deal was made. 21,360 euros Multistrada S Red Urban Pack Sidebags Fog lights Now it's wait two weeks to get certainly the Red Beauty Yupii ...
That's like over 31k converted to Canadian dollar, sounds insane. Am I missing something here? You could send me the 21.3 eu and I'll buy your Multi and ship it to you for free
That's like 6,000,000 Nigerian Naira, send me the money and I'll buy you 2 Multistradas and ship them to you for free
