Suspension Adjustment Monster 1200

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Christos, Mar 20, 2016.

  1. Hello everyone

I believe that by default, the suspensions on a motorcycle are set up for the average weight person which i suppose is between 11 to 11.8 stones.

    My weight is 9.44 stones.

Do you think that i should have mine adjusted? How will this affect the motorcycle? Whats your opinion on this?

Motorcycle is monster 1200 and it is for road use, never on track.

  2. You could eat a few pies, or have if I was a skinny get and had a Monster, I'd reduce the preload a bit at both ends, just a bit at a time and see how it goes. I assume you've ridden the bike and aren't happy with it?

  3. This is my first motorcycle ever so i don't know how a bad or a good set up feels like. I've got nothing to compare with

  4. Well we can hardly help you out then.

  5. Take it to a suspension specialist to get a set up. They will tell you if you need a new spring. usually cost £50 for a set up and more if you need a new spring.

  6. Can you recommend someone? I'm based in West Midlands but wouldn't mind traveling a little bit

  7. I take all my bikes to Kais suspension in Atherton, near Manchester for a set up. Cost £50 and the bike always feels better on the ride home. they will advise about spring weights if required. Best to give them a call and explain the issues you are having. They are very helpful. There are a few other places that have been mentioned on here, so hopefully there will be some more mentioned.
