1200 DVT 42t Rear Sprocket Help

  1. Hi all, I have received my 42t rear sprocket this afternoon and took it to my local tyre place for fitting. Unfortunately they told me that it won't fit as the chain is not long enough. I understand that many forum members have done this without any problems. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

  3. I guess you have to adjust the tension of the chain also. Check your manual how to do this.
    The procedure is written in the hand book and could be done with the included tools of the bike.

  4. It fits fine, no problem. The fitter should slacken the chain adjustment fully before putting the wheel back in, and then adjust the chain according to the manual.

  6. Thank you for your advice so far. I suppose I'll have to take it somewhere else or I might just do it myself if I can't find a good fitter nearby. If no one else had a problem with it before then it should clearly fit. I hope I can get it done for the weekend.

  7. I have just fitted the larger rear sprocket on my DVT. Chain fits fine, only needs the back wheel adjusting. But OH BOY what a difference this Modification makes. Bike picks up much better, sixth gear more usable and much easier to ride in town. Everyone should do this Mod.....

  8. I have been tempted, but then as I do fair amount of touring would it annoy me on the motorway, and a pain in less for a tank of petrol?

  10. I had mine finally done and it's great. I didn't notice any difference in fuel consumption.

  11. Looks like I'll add this to the list for when mine goes in to have the Aux Lights fitted...if they EVER effing turn up! :rage:

  13. Does this mod affect the speedo reading? Also Madproffs comment about motorway riding, what change in revs are made at say 80 mph

  14. It affects the RPM to speed ratio, not the real speed (which is taken from the back wheel). Your bike is going to work at a bit more RPM for the same speed. That's all.
