Hi all Just been for a ride on my 748R (2001) At early/mid rev range when I shift down there is a bit of feedback/gentle kick through the clutch lever.. Is this normal?? First time I have ridden with a slipper/dry clutch. Had 848 for a few years before the 748.. Very different animal. Cheers Andy
I have ridden a mates bike a few times now (2001 748r) and when the clutch was really warn it was getting hot really easily and slipping on overrun too much, didn't feel it bang through the lever but did used to feel that with my Daytona and the slipper clutch on that. Have u checked out the clutch to make sure the 'deck height' is okay?
Yep. It's more pronounced on the plain ramp type units fitted in your R, but feeling the click through the lever is pretty normal.
It had a new clutch on before I brought it. Haven't noticed any slippage or excessive heat but I don't really have anything to compare to. The feedback didn't feel sinister but I'd rather be on the safe side and check on here...
First time I rode mine with a slipper I had the same and wondered whether I had a problem, it is normal though. Steve
Thats good to hear.. the bike as a whole was very different to the 848.. The 748R took off when it got deeper into the rev range, put a big smile on my face thats for sure
The previous owner misses it, he rang me hoping I might send it back his way.... I just can't bring myself to part with it..
have a look through the thread I started on STM slipper clutch, it may be similar http://ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/stm-slipper-clutch.41321/#post-728652
Did you get to the bottom of it?. Mine was just me not being used to a slipper clutch, first dry/ slipper clutch i'd ridden, i'm used to it now
Not at present, could be a one of a few things, lubricant spray from when it was stored up, contaminating the plates, or just plane old wear and tear, I took it too Piazza Italia and it wasn't too bad, unless pushed, a Friend there suggested pulling it apart and going through it like pages in a book, I'm not going to do this for a while, so wait n see
