Aftermarket Warranty

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Rosso, Feb 22, 2016.

  1. My warranty is due to expire soon(ish) on my 899 & I'm looking into a warranty ( potentially Warranty Direct). I appreciate this topic has been covered in the past but I'm looking for up to date information/opinions.

    Thanks

  2. Likewise on this any advice from you guys appreciated

My dealer said Ducati are seeking to do this for the 899 - however this may of been "sales chat" I suspected

  3. I've got warranty direct on my pani. used it once and they paid out no problem with no questions asked

  4. Can I ask what they charge per year and any restrictions ?

    Thanks

  5. last year i paid £220 and claimed on 1 claim £400 - they paid up (no access) , this year, just renewed and its almost doubled to £375 with £4k annual limit and £2k max per claim. they will only pay up if parts need to be replaced. if it is labour only you can't claim

  6. and they given me 15 months for the price of 12. so basically just tell them you not happy with the price and they will ad on 3 months straight away

  7. Think you are still doing well there, what to you ride & what's the mileage? , my online quote was £620 for an 899!

  8. 1199s with 7k miles. when i questioned why my policy price almost doubled sales guy told me that they considered withdrawing paginale from the program altogether as they had so many super expensive claims, but kept it and put prices up

  9. Warranty Wise quoted me £441 for my 899
    Seems pretty steep

  10. Think that's Warranty Direct mate, not sure if Quentin Wilson's boys do bike warranty..
    th

  11. Whoops, yeah you're right

  12. Warranty direct still have the 899 listed online but they called me today to say they do not cover the panigale anymore.
High risk & too many claims!

  13. Not a great advert for Ducati especially if I am right in thinking that you can't extend the 2-year warranty with Ducati themselves too.

Is there any company that will give you a warranty after the new 2-year warranty at a reasonable price?

  14. warranty direct is like any other insurance co. they like to sell product but hate claims. once they have to pay out they go in to panic mode. and now they don't want to cover pani anymore.
i won 10k in LV on red/black 4 years ago. and guess what? they tried everything possible not to pay me out. even checked security cameras to prove that i gambled on particular table on the day i said i did.

  15. I've looked into this & previously asked on the forum.
It seems the answer is no, particularly for the whole panigale range. Just before warranty direct pulled the plug, they were quoting £650 for one year cover. I was informed that even that didn't work for them & there were several claims in the thousands.
They also indicated they had no intention of reinstating cover for that particular bike. ( My understanding is that they still cover other Ducatis ).
It's probably important to note that most aftermarket warranties are not as comprehensive as the manufacturers ( at the risk of being obvious), for example , they told me a quickshifter wasn't covered.
My personal opinion is you need optimism, big balls ( much bigger than my peanuts) & big bucks to keep a modern Ducati outside the warranty period, particularly if you are not handy with a spanner & lack a degree in computer programming.

  16. Oh well best keep some of them savings safe I guess " just in case"

Im going to ride mine as much as possible approx 10-15miles per year in the hope that regular long runs are better than high days and dry days ( they will be dry days lol ) and little mileage.

Will probably have a proper service twice a year minimum too.

Having had the bike only 5 weeks now Ive been further, been faster and smiled more than owning the harley (which was great but sooo different an experience) that I had 7 months and only did 1200 miles on as mansly wet n cold

Dont think the Duc will be changed for a long time but never say never the yearly midlife crisis happenes every Feb and an MV surely must be on the "to do " list

  17. just had 2x repairs done at the weekend on my commuter pani.
both been authorised by warranty direct with no problem and apparently cheque is on the way.
so far very much painless and decent experience with them

  18. Was quoted £441 for a multi with under 10K miles
    TCW

  19. i just got fucked by warranty direct.

  20. Ironic as i was just reading through this i thought "Didnt Quentin Wilson get done years ago for clocking cars?" - smarmy looking fucker as well....
