It's my 'one that got away' bike. I had a 2006 999R and like a complete twat, I sold it. Gorgeous machine.
It's grown on me over the years, as it has on most people. But that's a step too far. Cue abuse from the 999R owners. :Bag:
The first edition of the 999r 2003 year had the normal grey swingarm, l think later editions had the black swingarm. Some people have retrofitted and replaced their grey swingarm with the black version.
Agreed, if the 1098/1198 hadn't have sat in the middle the 1199 would have looked like the natural successor in terms of its 'bold' design. The 1098 is stunning but was definitely a return to the comfort zone in some regards. Personally I prefer the later 999 series though with the slightly wider front with less vents and also the box swingarm looks a bit more meaty
Hi All, A great looking bike. It's on my want list. This isn't my 999R it belongs to Kope but its one of my favourite pics and this bike is dripping with lovely DP parts. I believe he has taken it a bit further modification wise since this picture but what a stunner. My 749R before my modding addiction got out of hand!
so i wonder how many grey frame/grey subframe 999r's like yours and mine they made before they moved to red frame? probably no more than 250 odd... i've seen number 258 MY2003 for sale and it is already red-framed
My understanding is 2003 and 2004 MY bikes were Grey Frame and Grey Swing Arm 05 - 06 Red Frame with Black Swing Arm. Apart from the Fila Reps...
