Hi, Not a Ducati question. But pretty sure I'll get good advice here. I'm getting my newly procured GSXR (2010 1000) ready for it's first track day (Donny 12 April) I removed the twin pipe exhausts to replace with single sided akra. I removed standard Lambda sensor. Hole in akra link pipe is too narrow to accept standard lambda. So what next? Planning to disconnect it for the track day. What's the proper solution? run without it forever and don't worry about it. Or get a narrower diameter sensor and fit that (unlikely to happen before I load up the van tomorrow night.) Many thanks, Bob
My 899 has the full akra system without the lambda sensor. It runs fine without it. The exhaust was fitted at a dealership by the previous owner. I presume this is the norm when fitting the full system. This is all I know I'm afraid. Hopefully someone who has more technical knowledge may be able to offer more info.
Ok, many thanks. I know in theory the bike could run too lean without it; and worst case pit a hole in a piston, but you're bike not having one makes me think that that might not be an issue with more modern bikes (as opposed to carburetor bike when I recall issue of running too lean and too hot...) Cheers, Bob
If you un plug the lamda you may get a management light on on the dash , typically an un plugged lamda ( the electrical connection ) will leave the ecm in an open loop situation which the default is a richer map
Lee, many thanks; makes sense. That's what I'll do, then sort the issue properly after Tuesday. Thanks, Bob
You can't just disconnect the lambda you need to grey into the ecu and bypass it and program a new map to suit your setup. I'm sure there are more intelligent persons on here can advise you .
Of course a bespoke map is best , but an un plugged lamda will default the map richer which is safe for what you want to do . I assume with correct soft ware you can write the lamda out of the file then dial the map in on a rolling road . The software engineers who write the standard file have to engineer ' dead sensor ' senarios into the program ..... it has to be safe that's why when most sensors are left open circuit it will always default safe . On most modern cars the maps are quite lean and the 'economy hole ' gives them that ' dead ' area , try diss connecting the pre cat lamda ..... it will drive much better
