1200 DVT Wind On Yer Helmet!

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Northern Soul, Apr 15, 2016.

  1. I had a triumph explorer about a year or so ago and spent ages trying to figure out an aftermarket screen setup that got enough wind over my head, around my body, and didn't lead to a lot of helmet buffeting. I got there in the end but what a task!

I've done 600 miles on my new multi over the past week and I think the screen setup is fantastic. However, I probably could do with trying to get the wind zipping over the top of my helmet a little bit higher so I'm wondering if people have played around with the touring screen from Ducati (presuming there is such a thing) or an aftermarket screen setup to improve wind flow?

(Plenty of opportunities for humorous replies there)

  2. Have a quick search through the forum posts. This is an old chestnut that's been thrashed pretty much to death over the years!

  3. I messed about with 4 different screens on my old GS and ended up realising that a smaller screen and decent helmet is a far better solution than a bigger screen. Unless you have a massive screen like an R1200RT or something, you're not going to eluminate the buffetting and messy airflow over and around a screen.

I got my DVT last weekend and am awaiting the arrival of this shorter screen. Fingers crossed it give a smooth and buffet free air flow.

  4. You might like to also try the Puig touring screen. Some have found that to be very effective, and they're cheap enough to have a punt on.

  5. Thsnkd
    Thanks for that
Here's to smooth airflow over your helmet, always a pleasant experience!

  6. Change your helmet rather than the screen.

  7. Small screen like the pikes peak one seems to suit a lot

  9. Add a wing to the top is another solution some like

  10. x-creen on mine. really pleased with it.(the screen, not the bike)

  11. I've also fit a puig blade , works well

  12. At nearly £500 for the helmet I've got that seems like less of a factor to be playing around with initially!
Goes without saying I wouldn't mind a new helmet though

  13. What's that then? Something different than the standard adjuster that's already on the bike?

  14. You're not pleased with the bike?!?

  15. To ride, its the best bike Ive ever owned in 25 years of motorcycling. the problem is, its just too dam unreliable.

  16. That screen looks nice, thanks for the link. I'll also check out the touring one.
When you say 'shorter one' presumably you mean the Puig and not the pikes peak one?
Be gold to hear how you get on.

  17. Oh dear!
I guess having my engine management light coming on after 20 miles of leaving the dealership didn't inspire me with too much confidence!

  18. Yeah I get that.

Hopefully you will not have more, different issues. I have and it has left me feeling less than confident.

    Good luck

  19. Has your dealer sorted everything out though?
I'd be looking for an extended warranty, complaining directly to Ducati, and getting some massive freebie by way of compensation

  20. ;)
