I forgot how tedious this is..............open the throttle for a mili second and the screen is flashing all over the place for the next change up!!!
yes - need to keep it above 4000 and under 6000. I thought i'd do the run in miles commuting as you keep the speed down doing that but the stop/start and sub 15mph is a pain in the arse. Two weeks ago I did a long run to Cornwall and back 450 miles in a day .. cracked it out and got it done!! Short shifting between gears and running over 30mph all the time .. fast "cruising" covered the miles really quickly. Need to get it run in for trackday in Spain in 4 weeks .. can't wait!!
Well 118 miles and the fuel light just came on....I don't think I will be seeing this after the running in period....
118 miles, that's a great range I can only dream about. my 1299 I'm running in at its best is a crappy 90 miles.yea I got some reserve but with the akras back fire under excelleration I'm loosing fuel left right and centre haha.
For breaking in the engine (its not only the engine, its also the suspension, gear box, breaks etc...) i do it like this for my last 11 bikes i bought the last 15 years without any problems. Out of the box, the fist 100km very firmly driving, normal rpms, but no full open throttle, staying within the rev limits given from the manual. Breaking firmly, no quickshifter etc... 100 - 500km - normal riding - reduced rpm. -> after that changing oil!!! everything above 500km - fire! After first 1500km changing oil again - cost nothing but is important for the engine, gear box etc... after that i change engine oil every year or after 8-10.000 km. For racetrack use - after 500-700km - depending. I dont support the theory about breaking in the engine at race track under full throttle - maybe its a good thing if you want to get out the last horse power but thats at costs of duration. So fare my experience about this topic and i havent had any engine, gearbox problems the last 15 years, 8 years with Ducati.
Had the first service today and noted that the rev counter is still orange from 6000RPM up. Do we still have to treat it like a baby?
