Going to the TT for the first time this year and looking forward to it like you would not believe. The question is, Iv got a Ducati DP seat as found the standard to slippery but still find myself sliding into the tank and like the look of the superpole seat as it lips up. Now Iv got a hell of a ride (5 hours) to the port from glastonbury and even though I slide towards the tank I don't find it an uncomfortable seat as been in the saddle for 2 hours plus with no ill affects but in the corners I really have to put a lot of force in both my arms to stay back in the seat to be perfect on the bike and move about. What I was thinking is the shape of the superpole should keep me from being on the tank but heard its pretty hard and after distance can give you fatigue but others say it's great. What I want to know is people's views on the superpole who have it and specifically the comfort of it and weather they think it's a good idea to get it before I have my road trip or leave it to after I get back. Also if the consensus is to get it before the TT has anyone got one for sale or who would perhaps be interested in swapping my very good condition DP seat plus cash on to. There is no wear or nicks or splits in it what so ever. Cheers D
May not be a lot of help for you but I am also having similar problems with my seat. I have standard seat which has been re-covered, still too slippy but not uncomfortable to ride on... I think next winter I will take both it and the pillion seat to a local upholsterer and have them done in Alcantara... I'm hoping this will solve the slipping forward issue. Is this not something you could have done to the DP seat?
DP seat (and I'll be corrected if I'm wrong) seams exactly the same as the standard seat just with a slightly gripper covering to me. It's better than the standard but still not where I like my seats to be. The only other thing I was thinking about was a SompGrip for the tank but the aesthetics really put me off so it's a no go.
The superpole seat, IMO is probably the best seat for these bikes out there. They will stop you sliding about but are far from comfortable for a long ride. They are really hard, almost no give in the rubber. One of those sergeant seats (American jobbies) might be worth considering... They do pop up on eBay every now and then. Ian
Seat comfort can be subjective. A hard seat might suit some bums over distance whilst a spongy / gel seat could be hellish after a distance (and vice-versa). Listen to your bum!
Several people have mentioned before that wearing padded cycling shorts under your leathers makes a big difference. Andy
I already have a superpole seat, but thanks for your concern  As mentioned they are a bit harder but no more sliding and better riding position then original seat, cycling shorts now theres a good idea for a long ride.
Thanks everyone for all your inputs, exactly what I was looking for. Still not sure what I'll do mind lol.
I rode up from Dorset in 2014. Boring long uncomfortable journey..... I had the superpole seat so at least my arse was in fairly good order!
I have one of these; its a Saddlemen track seat but designed to take pressure off you bits. It seems comfy enough so far but have only done 120 miles or so.
