1000 Oil Leakage From Oil Pressure Sensor

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Martin Kubec, Apr 18, 2016.

  1. Hi,

I have oil leaking from Oil Pressure sensor (on the right hand side, just next to the oil filling hole) on my Multistrada 1000DS 2003. Could you please share with me why it is happening?

I might have put too much oil as the glass window for checking is not very reliable. One day it shows me it’s under, then too much. Guess, I will just have to empty the engine and get new oil and filter and to fill exactly 3.9 litres of oil and keep on checking for leakage.

Could it be the case that due to too much oil, the sensor’s seals/gasket is gone and needs to be replaced? Or any other cause of this problem please?

Any advise would be very much appreciated,

    Thank you,

    Kind Regards,

    Martin

  2. Replace it. A Vauxhall Agila one will do the job. Cheap as chips off ebay.

  3. Hi Martin
Not uncommon for these to go - but over filling with oil won't help!
Make sure the bike is bolt upright and engine has been switched off for at least 5 minutes to get an accurate oil level reading. Always go by this and not the amount of oil filled as this can vary.
    Cheers

  5. thank you for the advice Lumpy! unfortunately the window still give me inaccurate/different readings, but usually it's within the two lines. will have to have it checked when the service is due. thank you!
