Hello! I have joined up to try and find some technical people who can measure up some parts for me. I am currently designing a Suzuki/Ducati/Big Block Chevy "hybrid?" engine -as in combined parts. The Suzuki motor is the VS1400, with bigger main bearings. There is a new drop-in engine-base-block planned, using the existing gearbox, clutch drive, and oil pump. It may eventually suffer cancellation from being too expensive- possibly $20,000 NZ + ? but in the meantime, I will draw it up and price everything. Anyone got a set of Desmo 4V shims they can measure up for me? I want to use EMS and MBP bits, but need to know a few dimensions, and the groove distance from the top of the valve (7mm diameter) As far as I can see, it is 3mm down to the groove top, which is 2mm wide. The opener shim rides on the collets, and is clear of the valve top. Can anyone refine the dimensions a bit? I need to know if the valve top is totally flush with the closer shim, and what maximum and minimum adjustment limits are, along with the base sizes. Are there any major differences between early and late model sizes?
If I add up the shim dimensions from my base drawings, the average comes out around 11mm , so I will use that. Let me know if I have got it wrong. this is +2mm for ring, +3mm from groove to top of valve, assume gap between top shim and valve is insignificant. Owen_N
