Acf 50

Most bike shops carry it, round here I can't think of any that don't.



I should add, the bike shops will sell the aerosol cans, I spray it into the spray gun cup and like having the aerosol around, makes a good penetrating spray and comes in handy round the house where I used to use WD-40.

 

Best value option is buying the large bottle. They provide a little sprayer with it (if you don't have a proper spray gun). Like people say, get it nice and warm for best spray. I also use a brush on some of the areas that get really shitty over the winter like the shock, front of motor and underneath of sump etc.

I've had it done on both my Mutli's and I for one swear by it, but I've only ever had it done by specialists, who have done a superb job, on each occasion!
1st time Nooj based out of Newbury and the 2nd time All Year Biker based near Marlborough. About £60-65 and for me great protection especially if you use you bike during the colder weather when the really aggressive salt they use these days is applied on the roads. A 'no-brainer' get someone to do it, because they apply it virtually everywhere you can think, even under the east around the electtics, but never on the braking systems. :Mooning:

I use one of these with my compressor:

it was the only way I could get it to spray with a fine mist. Had no luck with rattle cans [even heated] or any other type of pump spray.

I spray it all round the car engine bay and underneath wherever I can reach. Also use it on the bike though I didn't ride much this winter so it stayed away from the salt mostly (plus most of the rear end is covered with oil from the chain anyway ;-). I've just bought some 'corrosion block' for when my 'normal' ACF50 runs out. It's supposed to last a bit longer in harsher environments (e.g. outboard motors etc) so am interested to try it out.

 

I bought a 4l container. Expensive hit, but cheaper/litre. It will probably outlive me.

 

I've read in several places that it only has a shelf life of 2 years. I'm still using a bottle that is well over that, but have nagging doubts about whether I should replace it.

 

I have also read that, but don't see how it can deteriorate in a sealed container. They sell 200litre barrels of the stuff.

This stuff sounds great, I'm surprised there hasn't been more mention of it already. Couple of questions;
Where can I buy some?
Will it be suitable for applying to my brakes?

Keep away from brakes and tyres

 

I always clean my discs with brake cleaner after treatment, regardless. In fact I do it after washing as well. Polish and wax shampoo don't do much for your stopping power either.
