does the 20m lower seat make a lot of difference , I like the SP looks mint but sat on one and felt it was to tall I am 5ft 8inches, would the lower seat make any real difference ? Thanks.
Hi, I had a 821 standard with the Michelin pr3 it was slightly taller than stock yet had normal seat. With my new 939 SP even if I reach ok at 1.70 m I decided to also get the "Journey" Ducati lower seat. Reach more comfy, yes absolutely you feel a difference and of course reach a bit better. Need to ride more but as you would expect it feels a bit harder.
I will retire my words above. The "Journey" seat is comfortable! What happened was the following. The seat attaches to the bike in 3 points, two besides the tank and one under the seat. This last one was not properly attached. It has like a latch and it was loose and above its position, so that was what did got me having sore right cheek. I set it correctly and today rode about 320 km no issues at all. As stated above, it locks you into a position but I could well move sideways for the turns etc (not that this bike really needs that on mountain roads). So have to recommend it, not only low for shorter riders but also comfy.
I just got my new Hypermotard 939 SP today and I need a lower seat! Lower seat or Journey seat? I'm just a short arse 5'7 did 100 miles on it today and was a little achy and tiptoed everywhere!
I'll let you know on the 25th I'm picking up my sp with the lower seat. I've only got a 28" inside leg so struggle like hell on the standard seat
Journey seat has more padding on the passenger part of the seat. Both look to me the same for the rider.
Picked up my 939 SP today with the lower seat fitted. It doesn't appear to make any difference at all when try to put both feet on the floor as it's the width of the seat the stop you putting your legs together to reach the floor. but it does help when you have one foot flat on the floor and the other on the foot peg. I'm glad I bought the seat but it didn't quite give me the clearance I was looking for. Just to note, I'm also 5'8" with a 28" inside leg and so far I'm managing fine with the bike
The bike width is not changing that is what constraints the possibility to have both feet down, at our size.
