  1. Mains have gone on my 7000 mile 2004 749R :rage:

    So....I might break it :(

Has lots and lots of goodies, here's just a few:

Carbon BST's (which I've had from new!).
Genuine Corse rearsets with large carbon heel guards.
    57mm full Termi system.
ISR mini rear caliper with special 220mm disc and billet hanger.
    Power Commander.
    Cyclecat adjustable riser clip-ons.
The usual full carbon fairings, including the 999R carbon mono seat.
    Large 749R tank.
    Sargent mono seat pad.
Ohlins forks and shock (with special 749R rocker).
    749R adjustable yokes.

There's loads more on there that I will have forgotten about.

The frame (with V5) and engine will also be up for sale.

If you need anything in particular, send me a PM.

    Cheers.

  2. Is the '04 749R a deep sump engine like the 996R/998/999 or like the 996/748 ? With the high spec of your bike and your obvious fondness for it, why not source a replacement engine ? Andy

  3. Yep, deep sump, and I am indeed very attached to it.

Replacement R engines aren't cheap, neither is the rebuild cost!

What has really swung it for me is that I may have another project on the go soon, and it might be time to move on!

  4. No chance that something like coockster's 853 or even my 748RS might fit I suppose ? Andy

  5. Something else will probably fit, but once you've ridden a 749R, you'll know only that engine will do!

Getting some enquiries about parts, but I won't know where I stand until I sell at least the frame/engine.

  6. I have a 748R and understand but I have also owned a 748sp based 853 and currently run a 748RS and they each have their own character and enjoyment. Just looking forward to getting my new RS based 853 engine that is being built at the moment into my track bike. Good luck with whatever direction you take. Andy

  7. Hey Stretta,
I feel your pain, I had same problem with my 1098s. Just wondering would you sell as is & how much would you be looking for ??
(would make a nice winter project).
    Cheers,
    John.

  8. I don't think I would.

The parts are probably worth more than the rest of the bike. Plus I sold the standard wheels and other OE parts a long time ago.

  9. if it were me id talk to louigi moto or someone like that and get a monster rebuild on the go especially if you like the bike and your used to it, im sure you could 853 a 749 be a cracking bike then!! think cjs racing got 150 bhp out of his.
