My girlfriends new Bike is on it's way and the first job is a new tail tidy. I don't want to cut any wires but want connect the new tail light wiring to the same connector that is used for the OEM installation. Has anyone done this and if so can you tell me what the connector is. Many thanks. Rich
With my race kit if I want a matching connectior, I buy a spare loom to steal plugs, or in your case a spare stock brake light, Then cut the connector off the light with an appropriate amount of wire remaining (tails). Soldier that connector neatly to the lights on your tail tidy, use heat shrink.. if you heat shrink each wire and put a piece over all the wires, you'll make the mod look factory or even neater if you do it right. I don't put joints too near the plug, heat transfers through the pins and can melt plug, and it's best to have joint somewhere out the way (bit ocd) Some of the bike connectors or ones used for expensive aftermarket kit (dashes and sensors) are not always easy to get hold of. Someone might have a better answer but that's how I'd keep the loom stock and add bits. As these parts are removeable. Sometimes you can get tools for pushing pins out of plugs if doing a proper job. I've seen this with ECU mods on the GSXR 1000. I don't like chopping looms attached to vehicle (unless really necessary) but I don't add cheap connectors, if I add something I try to keep the plugs standard. Hope you get it sorted
RS Components or CPC or Farnell....all on the web...find the connector then let me know if you can't buy direct.
Thanks for your help. I'll try and find a pic of the connector. Gixxerboys do a tail tidy which comes with the connector but you cant see really what it is. Here I think its something like the following pic but as we don't have her bike yet I can't investigate to establish which one it is. Just wanted to have the connector before the bike arrives to save messing about and taking the back end to bits more than I have to. Thanks again all. @AC I'll check out those websites and see what I can find. Edit Might be a M040-UC-Female-set
you need to look on flea bay for the right age GSXR brake light and see what the connect is on that. Look at 3rd photo. Suzuki GSXR 600 / 750 K6 K7 Rear brake light 2006 - 2007 | eBay Personally I'd wait until I had the bike.
