After New Track Only Hemet - X-spirit3 V Bell Race Star V 802rr?

  1. Howdo!

Started doing a few more track days and decided it's time for a new lid. I have noticed flat on the tank my Shoei NXR is alright but could benefit with better vision. I've picked out 3 lids:
    Shoei X-Spirit 3
    Bell Race Star
Nolan 802rr (Seems best price out the 3, think Bridge at Exeter has these in...so gonna pop in)

So I'm after any pros or cons (Place to buy?) if anyone has any info?

However being in the Southwest I'm limited by Bike shops having some of these in stock, so if anyone knows who has these in stock in (100 mile radius from Plymouth)

    Cheers Pablo

  2. Girlfriend went for the X-Lite 802 which gave her better vision on her track bike than her AGV and Arai and she loves it, light, quiet and good fit. I am a Shoei man through and through. Had the original X Spirit, have had 3 X Spirit IIs and my next helmet will be the X Spirit III. Never had a Bell, bit too retro for me. My X Spirit fits me perfectly, the X-Lite didn't no matter what size lining I tried, so you really need to try one on. Andy

  3. I must admit I thought that about the Bell but to be fair the Pro Star and Race Star look well mean (Similar to the X-spirit 3).
Again I normally have Shoei....but thought I would see if anyone can match it for quality/price. Bell Pro Star.jpg

  6. I love my 802rr. Got the carbon one and it's so light.

  7. I found the 802rr really noisy, and a friend of mine doesn't were his because of this. Really good quality and pretty light but as I said quite loud. I in the end went with AGV Corse Guy Martin rep and absoluly love it, incredibly light, great vision and unbelievably comfortable as can totally tailor it to the shape of your head and in half sizes.

  8. Hi Darren
what weight is the AGV? And price? agv-corsa-black-4.jpg

  9. I got mine through SportsBikeShop and on a really good deal as ordered the last shark race pro r carbon skin and it was covered in imperfections so aske if they could do a deal on the Guy Martin rep which they did, put it this way it was well south of £400. Not sure on the weight but feels very very light compared to my shoei gt air, I'll just shot down stairs and weigh the agv, will be back in a bit

  11. And about SportsBikeShop, always always always phone them up when ordering, never just buy from the net no matter what it is as they have given me discount every time. Even when it's not on the sale item they have taken off say 10-20% of a visor or thrown in something like screen wipe, dry chain lub. Really good guys to deal with. Also be careful if you buy a lid from Europe as believe it's only FC Moto who have the gold ACU sticker on them that you will need to do track days or racing, don't think any other European companies have the sticker as yet.

  12. Shoei X-spirit 3 is heavier that the NXR and shares the same visor, the x-lite is also taller by about an inch that the NXR in size medium anyway and another one for sportsbikeshop

  13. Tried the new X-Spirit 3 on today and was hugely disappointed. The (L) shell shape size for size against the X-Spirit 2 is slightly smaller so doesn't fit me, too tight around my head and my chin is too close to the chin piece. Also tried the new Arai RX7 with the new visor and revised side pieces and that didn't fit either. Without a dedicated helmet shop near me that can change internal pad sizes so I can get the right fit, I guess I'll just pick up another X-Spirit 2, at least it will be a bargain price although it will not be a Marques replica. Andy

  14. You dont need the acu sticker for trackdays

  15. You do if they are running under an ACU permit and also no limits say this about having the ACU sticker. Think you would be foolish to book a track day without speaking to the organisers first about it.

  16. J&S Oakmere had a Union jack x-spirit 2 I think in L last week and also noticed yesterday watching BSB that most of the SHOEI riders still use the x-spirit 2 and not the 3!

  17. In some ways I'm quite lucky. I work in a bike shop which sells all the aforementioned lids. Above all else, try before you buy. Have it properly fitted to your head. A decent salesperson will measure your head and go through the same fitting process with everyone you try. Of the previously mentioned helmets, I've raced and crashed in all but one, the AGV. I love the styles they do but they simply do not fit my head/face shape. Aria are overpriced and heavy in comparison to XLite & Bell but are superb quality. The 802rr has the activated Kevlar/carbon cloth interior and is super light though fractionally heavier than totr Bell but far superior in fit.
As an aside, I used to import Arai personally. They are the lesser of the two main brands in Japan(Shoei being top)
Finally, having all of the aforementioned helmets in my shop and knowing them all, my only choice would be the XSpirit III very closely followed by the 802rr. The Shoei aerodynamics are superior but it costs more to replace if dinged. I wear earplugs with all lids. Hope you're happy with whatever you buy. Cheers. Norm.

  18. Big tent half full of discounted carbon lids here at Silverstone

  19. I'm getting a Bell pro star once they launch in the uk end of sept/start of oct. But I'd recommend the Bell race star as its half the price but with all the good stuff on-board.
