Hi everyone, This may have already been covered before, sorry if it has. I was reading an article about the sc and they recommend swapping the original tyres for more sticky ones. What are your thoughts and suggestions. Cheers
Durex ? ........... Sorry couldn't resist, I have SC's on my 1199s nice tyre very sticky in the dry crap in the wet. Not sure what I will change to, have just replaced the rear after 3,000 miles plus dyno run. However I have fitted M7rr's on my 848 streetfighter and I really like them so may take a chance on those on the 1199 when it comes up for replacing both tyre's.
I've got a set of Diablo Strada's on my GT. £135 from M&P - can't go wrong! No need for super sticky sports tyres on it.
Angel GT's on mine for around 3 weeks now, warm up well and inspire confidence... unlike the Diablo Roso's I had on there before
Depends on your wheels,if original then you need tubes so whatever is recommended to run tubed, if non standard and you can run any tire then it depends on your riding style ie sports or touring etc... I run Kineo rims and Pirelli Rossi corsa tyres as I ran on my 1098's. Any modern tyre is fairly good.
Currently running Dunlop Roadsmarts (tubeless - I have 5-spoke Marchesini wheels fitted) & I'm very pleased with them. Might try the Sportsmart 2 next as I'll probably be due for new tyres by MOT time in February.
Michelin pilot 4's quick warm up and give good feedback on the gt1000.For those who used to ride kwaka triples back in the seventies and survived on the factory supplied rubber,or anyone else's back then,we've nothing to complain about now.
Hi Just fitted Michelin PP3 on, had 2ct previous, I prefer the feel of the new tyres supposed to last longer too. With all new tyres though because they are new and perfectly shaped they always feel good. PP3 £245 fitted not a cheap option mind. CT

Are they OK with inner tubes? I understand that some tyres can't be fitted with tubes, something to do with the inner carcasse being too abrasive & puncturing the inner tube or is that cobblers?
Manufacturers talk to tyre manufactures and share best policy, strictly tubeless means tubeless unless the mounted item requires tubes, most modern spoked rims use either a bladder system, look up Harley fit for an explanation or a bitumen belt that sticks to the spokes inlet area, most tubed rims after 1970 have the bead safety ledge on them to stop tyre slip on the rim, however, there isn't a combination out there that we cant get modern tyres fitted safely to older style rims,
