Today I wish I had stayed in bed. Went to try a BMW 1000XR SE , the quick shifter was amazing, it was really comfy for my height, the screen was great and brakes fantastic but the vibrations are just in the wrong place and as it had the 9500 rev limiter left I didn't get the feeling it was anymore powerful than my 2011 Ducati. Asked for a price on mine its 2011 Ducati ( 35500 miles ) and it needs engine spray and some tlc and the guy laughed and said better on eBay which hurt its feelings . Went to leave opened the throttle and my bike span and left me on the floor before I knew what happened, some really nice blokes helped me out and lifted my bike and i left tail between my legs and pride hurt. So if your reading this guys , Thanks for helping it was appreciated had to leg it due to severe embarrassment. Regards Chris
Ouch, sorry to hear that she bit you, probably one of those German bikes leaving some oil on the ground. As long as it's just your pride that got dinged then it's all good, that will mend quickly.
Aye all the parts are ordered to fix and the funny thing was even riding back home feeling the fool , with my foot on the rear foot peg , I still thought id rather be on my Ducati So off to Le Man for MotoGP on my old friend rather than with a new German partner. Cheers Chris
Reminds of a similar incident back in 2005, when I went to test an Aprilia sports bike, after only ever having ridden iL4's. Went to turn left slowly out of the dealership, stalled it feet up and bit the dust in front of a bus stop full of people. Picked it up as if it was a mini moto, such was my embarrassment! Cost me £70 and obviously my hurt pride as I was queried on 'just how much experience' I had, blah, blah...
good to hear I am not the only one. At least on the bright side I am eating humble pie rather than hospital food. I blame it on the BMW's lack of torque making me grab a handful when back on the Ducati.
I had a TL1000s and that stalled twice when turning round slowly, both times I took a dab real quick and got away with it. I've had a few big twins now and always cover the clutch when low speed manoeuvring just in case
Yup. Did the stall-while-U-turning crash myself in front of a bus-stop on a V-Rod. Some bloke had to come help pick that heavy f*cker up though!
