1200 Tyre Pressure Question From A Newbie

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Rich C, May 24, 2016.

  1. Apologies in advance for the basic questions but am very new to Ducatis after riding all sorts of things for 30+ years and now have a 1200s touring 2014 and loving it...

The handbook with my bike says for two up riding and or with luggage the rear tyre pressure should be 2.9 bar (42PSI). No surprises there and exactly what I would instinctively put in it. However it also says put 2.9 bar in the front when two up.

Can this really be right? Surely this is too high. Never seen this in 30+ years of biking. Its always 36 in the front two up isn't it!

    Thoughts?

  4. Forget what the Ducati handbook says and look at the web site for the manufacturer of the tyres you have on the bike, they will vary by Brand and model of tyre.

    FWIW - Michelin PR4 34F 38R solo (my preference) - 36F 42R fully loaded.

  5. 2.6F + 2.9R in my Metzeler Z8, but always 2 on the bike.

  6. Thankyou one and all.. confirms what I thought. The manual is cock in this regard. Cant imagine what possessed me to read it in the first place, should have just stuck with what I know and has worked for years!
