1200 Anyone Had Their Exhaust Cover Re-anodised

  1. My exhaust cover (central piece that covers the valve) turned a dark red colour some time ago (from the original black). Has anyone had theirs anodised black again? If so ow much did you pay and did it stay black?

Do the carbon ones last or do they just go cloudy because of the heat?

  2. Bought a Carbon one on ebay. over a year on and it's still spot on.

  3. Which one did you get?

  4. Mine is scuffed to hell by my right boot so i'll replace/recoat it when I sell the bike .... the joys of riding with the ball of my foot on the footpeg

  5. I thought that was the original colour? Mine was always that colour. Now you mention it, black would be nicer!

  6. I thought it was original too, I prefer it to black as it fits with the red highlighting on a gunmetal grey GT ;)

  7. Dropped the heat shield/fairing at the anodisers this morning. The main man wasn't there so will be early next week before I know if they can do it (depends on exactly what the material is as to how it will turn out). Also left a diy cylinder head guard (as per andy's site) with them for black anodised.

Will post results when I have them.

What I really the Zircotec ceramic coating in the end but they have a £130 min order qty.

  8. "It's a funny material" to quote the guy at the plating shop. It has turned out OK, but I don't think it will last. I think the original was a hard anodised. It comes out brown instead of black on some alloys. I've had it done black but not hard. I need to buy some heat reflective material for the inside to replace the stuff I removed.

  9. Light sand with 100 grit , then spray bomb on high temp flat black paint , about $20 per can , did mine 2 years ago and still looks great.

  10. +1 for SCO1, I have a full Termi but did the "belly pan" as he describes some time ago. Jon.
