hi chaps ive just picked up a gsxr 1000 k2, but it looks like its just come out of the bottom of a pond!! now i dont usually jet wash any of my bikes but this really does need it i think, i was going to get all the fairings off and then do it, is this a good idea or not?? il try and stay away from all the electrics ect ect. any advice welcomed.
The main thing to avoid with jet-washing is squirting high power streams into the wheel bearings & disturbing/ripping electric cables with those 100mph nozzle attachments you can get. This is how I do mine; moistening bike & spray a diluted mix of Sdoc100, leaving for 10-15mins too do its magic. Brush it about on the bad areas then eventually rince off. Then do a careful shampo hand wash. My jet-wash is used only at a distance to throw fine water mist everywhere before & after washing processes are done. Chamois leather off remaing water & ACF50 metal parts then wax plastics. I did go overboard & brought a brühl BD4280 professional dryer to speed things up & its the bees-knees. The first thing & last things are clean chain & lube it after the whole procedure & brake-cleaner the discs & pads.
search on google for all weather biker. Its a business that cleans bikes. My Mrs thoght it was expensive when I told her the price but when she watched the video and found out they are there fro about 90 mins, she changed her mind. The bike does look like new at the end. I havent used them myself but know people who have who rate them. I'm not a big bike or car cleaner. I'm ok cleaning the bike but when I do the chain with cleaner and then dry lube, there is cr*p everwhere
Valet-Pro ph neutral snow foam in an applicator on a hose pipe works as good as any jet washer for me. Mind you I don't keep my bikes at the bottom of ponds which does help...:Angelic:
( IMO and i use it on both my bikes , cars and mtbs ) jet wash is ok but be careful, and dont expect it to do everything. some shampoo / gunk brush work is still needed
Cheers guys! I've started with the old degreaser and hose pipe seems to OK but not great, jet wash tomorrow I think.
Connectors are weather proof. They have to be. Don't use high pressure nozzle on sensitive area's. Bearings. Head stock. Blow dry. Lubricate joints. I flood them and wipe off access. Have fun throw on a bikini. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ha ha,,,, after being cought and totally soaked throo and throo twice recently,, going down throo france en route to spain and again on way back near Caen , and on a Harley which are about as archaic and agricultural as you can get , it was like riding throo a car wash let alone a jet wash !!!!! dinna fret laddie
Jet washing is fine, but don't go too close on things like fork/shock seals and obviously exposed bearings or stickers Use a snow foam first to loosen off the dirt, and than blast it all away from a sensible distance (i.e. a couple of foot)
