Smoke

  1. Was out for a ride with a mate over weekend and he said he saw a bit of blue ish smoke coming from exhaust towards end of ride.
Everything felt ok but something must be wrong. Hard to say if it does it regularly but it's not been mentioned on group rides before.

  2. check your oil level Joe - can you say roughly what level was before the ride? You could be leeching a little oil through piston rings or valve guides into combustion chamber(s) and more likely when engine stinking hot. Not the end of the world though, depending how much. It could even be a result of overfuelling which could correct itself when fuelling fixed. You could work out approx how much oil you lose per mile to try and get a handle on it. If it smokes more on idle straight after a larruping then time to take it seriously. You can do a wet/dry compression check on both cylinders and examine spark plugs to get a better idea of what's going on and which cylinder.

  3. I was thinking possibly piston rings and it was running a bit hot at the time due to traffic. I'll take a look at oil level, not that long since I changed it so should be able to see if it's dropped noticeably.
Hopefully it'll be nothing serious, really can't afford a big bill for anything right now

  4. You didn't overfill it did you?

  5. I did actually but then drained a bit out before it was ever started and that was a few hundred miles back now.
