hi all, to make a long history short..i bought a 1997 748sp in the south of sweden, it was imported fr.o.m the Uk via denmark and it had been parked in a garage for 8 years.. I towed it home two months ago and had a garage do the belts. When i first took it out on the road it went fine to 8000 revs but then it cut out an eventually it hardly run at all. I thought the timing changed so back to the garage for two weeks and they didnt find the fault. Towed it home again and with help fr.o.m a friendly 916 owner we found that the ECU was the problem. I found a "new" one, fitted it and now it run like a charm. It was hard to find the fault, stripped down the fuelpump twice, changed the tps-sensor etc just to find that the ECU was faulty. Cheers
I paid roughly around 1700 pound and with all the reperations it sums up to 2300..still not bad and the feeling when i started it up after eight years? Priceless
Thanks bubbles and bettes. I was in contact with fabiana fr.om ducati and she confirmed that my model is an 748sp but she couldnt verify that my bike was first sold in the Uk. Anyway, im so glad to have it running, just finished the first 1000 km on it
Hi all, i have ridden 100 Miles on it at the moment. Yesterday i took it to a ducatidealer to check the ECU and tps. They couldnt get any connection to the ECU and when i took it out on the road, after the ECU-inspection, i noticed it runned a bit rougher. I dont have the originalchip mounted, Its that why ducatis computer cant communicate with the ECU? Thankfull for any input...
And if that the case, communicationproblems between ECU and computer, can i fit a 916 sps chip in only to establish communication?
Hi, i know my fairings are resprayed but does anybody knew if the Sp was distributed in that colour? I read somewhere that they only came in yellow. I sure would apprecieate some information.
