1200 R Ohlins Rear Preload Adjustment

  1. Ok, I've almost given up - which bloody way does the nut need loosening on the rear suspension....

As supplied, seems way too stiff

  2. Standard right hand thread. Clockwise (looking down from top) tighten, anti clock loosen. You will have to stop the lower nut from moving to get the top nut loose. Andy

  3. Is that Clockwise to tighten and Anti-Clockwise to loosen (you say clock twice !!) Thanks

  4. Doesn't help you Ian, but I got mine setup by and Ohlins specialist whilst at a track day for £49 - front and back. Absolultly worth it if you can make it to a track near you....(there's always some sort of suspension mob offering setups at track days - & you don't need to be taking part of the track day shenanigans either!)

  5. I now have an R after changing my S for one. The rear is hard on the R, although the spring is the same as the S it feels much harder so I've ordered a 100nm spring today to replace the 115 that comes as standard (I only weigh 11st and no pillions). I might have gone too light but springs are cheap. I'll let you know how it feels when I've installed it. cheers bryan

  6. The dealer did mention I might need a shorter spring, but that seemed like overkill. I know they increased it so as to give more ground clearance. How much are they if I can ask ?

  7. Ian, the spring I've ordered is softer not shorter (Nm not mm). Ducati havent changed anything in the suspension to increase ground clearance (they both run a 01092 spring), the ground clearance advantage is through the larger rear tyre and differant subframe. The R shock does have a differant ohlins code so there will be differances in the damping specifications. I work in the trade so get the springs cheap but I think retail is around £75 (plus fitting).
