Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by chizel, Jul 24, 2016.

  1. evening all.
for the last week the battery light on my carby ss has been on... Its had no probs starting, lights on or off and is running fine. Any ideas?

  2. Could be the reg rec on the way out. Stick a voltmeter across the batteries with the engine running. You should be getting about 14.2 volts

  5. Availabe from less than a tenner and it will pay for itself time and time again. Toolbox essential.

  6. lol, it would be if I knew how to use one! The last one I had, had so many settings I got confused just looking at it. Or is there a simple version or setting?

  7. Just set it to volts DC in the range 0 to 20v and poke away with your probes :grinning:. Red for positive, black probe for negative. You'll be able to test for all manner of problems even if this is the only setting you ever use.

  8. nice one mate. I shall find one and give it a go... Im still using bike every day and apart from the light there's no issues... Have had a loom catch fire on my 748 because of the rectifier so im a lil worried...

  9. Maplins will have something suitable.

  10. Old thread I know, but did you get it sorted?
Mine is on on start up but fades to off as I put a few miles on it
I have it connected to an Oxford optimiser in the garage when not in use.

  11. i did, it was the rectifier so upgraded that and its a peach again.

  16. As Chiz was advised earlier check the charging voltage when the bike is running for reg/rect on the way out :upyeah:
Battery may still be on the way out though but if so you will get a new one under warranty
