  1. Why are the seats so rubbish they just don't fit and are badly made . Is there a fix for these shit seats

  2. It seems some are a good fit and some are a bad fit, not sure if anyone has come up with a solution for the bad fit ones. My last Multi had a shit one too.

  3. They did listen to customer complaints & all future seats now look smart & without querky gaps.

  4. I've just been away to France on the ferry and when they tied it down I thought the seat was going to fold in half it just came away from the tank. None of the other bikes did this . My mates triumph tiger was fine

  5. They are really bad came back from France and they tied it down on the ferry I thought the seat was going to fold in half it just pulled away from the tank I could of got my fist in there

  6. I wouldn't be happy with anyone tying my bike down with a strap across the seat.

  7. That's how they stop them moving about , it's got to be done . If the seats were / had a bit more to them this would not happen

  8. I've never been on a channel ferry but I've used the North Sea ferries a number of times. On these there are ratchet tie downs and you tie your own bike down, so you're responsible for your own bike. I wouldn't want anyone tying ropes over the seat. It's not particularly secure anyway.

  9. On ferries I find they put a cushion like protector over the seat before its strapped down

  10. Putting a strap over the seat on a ferry is absolutely hopeless. It is likely to damage the seat, and does not really secure the bike adequately. Always strap a bike down by attaching straps each side to hard points (frame tubes, footrest brackets, handlebars, etc). Make sure the straps stop the bike from moving forwards, backwards, or sideways - this needs four straps per bike. If you have in fact wrecked your seat by putting a strap over it - well, you will know better next time.

In the Channel Tunnel trains there is no possibility of attaching any straps at all, so you just have to hope for the best.

  11. I agree the seat does not fit neatly to the body work with gaps that you can see into the underside. My seat was badly distorted after a ferry trip to Santander last week that I got the deck officer to take photos so I could put in a claim to Brittany Ferries but in reality Ducati are to blame for a sub standard product. ....the BMW and Kwacka next to my bike had no seat issues. Oh and BTW my dash went completely blank twice on the way back through Spain and France. ...no speedo no fuel gauge no trip makes for interesting touring in a foreign country

  12. Just got back from IOM classic TT, and the steam packet company ferry's strap them over the seat with a piece of rope! My seat was ok, I have the 2010 MY touring seat. which is a bit thicker and quite well made.

Not sure I would have been happy with the later model earlier seat...??

  13.
  14. Yes they did use a cushion type thing but all the other bikes on the trip were fine . Just the new Ducati that the cheep seat just not good enough when you pay top money for the s model

  15. Very interesting . I bet

  16. Hi mate they are cheep and not upto the job , well I did only pay £16,000 should of payed a bit more might of got a proper seat , joke

  17. My DVT was strapped down by the seat for a crossing to Ireland (when will they build a tunnel :)) the seat bent so I went back and repositioned the strap closer to the tank and did the same on the return trip. The deck guys were happy and the seat was not bent. Other Euro trips are always via the Tunnel and never had any issues (apart from the occasional delay) with bike safety on the train.

  18. Done a few trips on the tunnel with bikes and had no issues at all. However, last Sunday while coming back, albeit in the car. We must have had a crap traindriver coz he braked hard coming out the tunnel at Folkestone and the 3 bikes behind us nearly toppled over. Luckily the BMW rider caught his as it was about to go.

  19. Mine got squished on the ferry to Ireland same. Brand new bike so straight out with the camera sent pics to customer services wi a shitty letter on return n they paid for a new seat no bother. For the inconvenience I got a receipt for the touratech seat instead of the std and they paid out the whole lot. Result.
Just to make up for it the touratech was too high for me so swapped it for a top box. Original seat returned to shape on its own. Still looks shit mind!

  20. Yea mine did go back too but just a poor fit .
