Morning to all thought I'd say hi as picked up my first Ducati Friday from jhr Coventry delt with Dave Riley need to say top top bloke. Previous bikes 07 R6 13 675R 15 blade And now the 959, looking forward to getting the first service out the was so I can start to open the taps on her. So on that note I'm off to get some miles in enjoy!!
Cheers bud think I remember you from the 675 forum from when you made the switch to the 899? Correct me if I'm wrong.
That's me, I have had 2 Daytona's and when I can afford to have one as well as my 899 I would really like another! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Good on ya, personality I found it a little stiff on the road even with a softer spring in the rear and forks reworked with thinner oil. But came alive on track all made sense.
The 675? I loved it, but I might be a bit heavier at around 90kg. My biggest problem with it was it was 'too good' if that makes sense, it had lost the character of the earlier model. Honestly on track I wouldn't want anything else, I've ridden the 899 on track and it's quite physical. The 675 was like a 250 2 stroke, absolutely loved it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah the 675 totally agree with you! It was a pleasure compared to wrestling my r6 lol. Can not wait tho till I can take the Ducati, see how she compares.
See, the only time I have ridden an 899 was on track and I loved it compared to anything (outside my momster race bike) for its flickability and ease of carrying corner speed I bought a 675 and it blew up in May and is still with the mechanic (!) having full engine rebuild so not ridden in anger (3 sighting laps) so its fix and flog Reading stuff like this makes me doubt that decsion....damn you!! Enjoy the 959 and welcome
Well you were unlucky for sure and it's worth doing a trackday on it before u move it on as they certainly aren't unreliable generally. I did like the 899 on track, even 'loved' it once I got used too it, the handling was fine, the suspension brilliant but the engine without a slipper clutch just felt a bit scary backshifting into corners, mainly because I don't like the EBC so I turn it off. After all that... I think I'm probably quicker still on the 899, and maybe the reason I felt it was physical is just because I had the confidence to be pushing it more.. Either way both are excellent track bikes!! And I'm sure the 959 is even better on the road Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I thought the 899 had a slipper. I was just dropping gears and dumping it...not too much of a problem
I've just sold my blade and on the hunt for a 899/959 ,how would u day it compares to the blade in the road ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Still running the 959 in so having not ridden in anger can't say. But what I will say is the Ducati is far more usable on the road it gives you so much confidence to push on and pick the throttle up earlier it's a joy. Like the previous comment to very different animals.
The blade really is totally different, the bars are really close together in comparison and I just felt so cramped in my legs. Also it's a quicker bike top end but not really until it gets going so I didn't used to have any issue keeping up with the blade off corners. It also has a truly shocking gear box on the blade, once the Ducati one is bedded in its so much nicer! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'd agree with all of the above other than the gearbox I've ridden loads and always found them to have a great box..
