Absolutely cracking day! Great weather, no breakdowns and best of all, I finally gelled with the 1098R! I had been a bit sheepish with the throttle on the previous TD's I'd done on this bike but today I was back to my usual self, ragging it like a bastard! I fookin love this bike...it's sooooo fast! Who was the geezer on the Diavel in Inters? Anybody from here?? Brave man!
Yes, noise issues! Due to NIMBY attitude of West Kingsdown Council, Brands has extremely strict noise limits....meaning I have to use the full on Termi baffles which ruin the beautiful "tone" of a 70mm slash cut system! I bought some milled ally baffles at great expense from Italy at the beginning of the season - it passed with them in on the first TD there but has failed ever since...boo! Never mind - great fun was still achieved!
Not sure about the consistency of the noise testing at brands. My 1098s passed at 102db exactly in June without the baffles then failed last month with a reading of 107db...! Put the baffles in at it went down to mid 90's... Nice looking R there Ricky. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Full on Termi baffles = the dB killers that are supplied with the slash cut cans. These are what I had to use. I agree with the inconsistencies - that is well documented elsewhere but we are over a barrel when the obergruppenfuhrer noise test man says "nein, das ist verboten!"
