Evening all. I'm back in the fold as a Ducati owner after a break of some 30 years. Back in 87 I sold my 860GTS to fund a Guzzi Le Mans 2 and then moved away from motorcycling...young family, job etc etc. Re-ignited the bug when my son took up biking and I realised we could have fun riding together. Some gentle perusing showed that the 90's Supersports seemed very affordable and absolutely fell for the white framed versions. Was looking at 600's but found that the 900's were about the same money so went the whole hog and bagged a 92 model off Ebay. Its got 45,000 miles and had 16 owners but rides sublimely. For sure there are a lot of issues lurking but part of the fun is sorting them out. So far given it a thorough initial glean up, fixed some minor electrical gremlins and am part way through fixing a clutch problem which looks like a leaking slave cylinder. Its no wonder when you see that the unprotected piston sits in the firing line for grot thrown off the gearbox sprocket!. Anyway I'm sure this and many other issues will appear in the Supersports section but for now I'm smitten and want to keep her stock and beautiful.
Welcome home They're great bikes and you're right, the clutch slave leaking is a common issue across the ranges. A few quid buys the inner and outer seals and a new rubber boot (which is probably split) and will sort the problem. In fact I now keep a spare set of seals in stock for my two.
Thanks all. I have bought a star style slave as that looks like the piston is embedded and therefore protected. Will look out for a 10mm extension. Is there a best source in UK? Must say internet searches show a pretty sparse spares situation unless I'm l,looking in the wrong place!
